A Cuban almendrón decorated with motifs symbolizing Cuba's freedom has become the star of a viral video that has deeply moved the Cuban community in the United States.
The clip, posted last Saturday on TikTok by the user @rolandomejias2020, features the iconic classic car to the rhythm of "Imagínate un puente," the song released on March 14 by Jacob Forever along with El Chacal, whose lyrics resonate powerfully among Cubans dreaming of a free country: to do what I want, whatever I please.
The vehicle, adorned with patriotic symbols and messages of freedom, represents much more than just a car: it is a declaration of identity and nostalgia.
The classic American cars from the 1930s to the 1960s have been an iconic symbol of Cuba for decades, both on the island and in the diaspora.
The image of the decorated almendrón immediately resonated with thousands of Cubans in exile, who flooded the post with comments filled with emotion and pride.
It is not the first time that one of these classic cars has become a cultural symbol outside of Cuba: recently, the singer Yotuel Romero also starred in a similar story when Romero acquired a restored light blue almendrón in Miami, inspired by the models from the 1950s.
The video is a reminder of how Cuban culture, even thousands of kilometers away from the island, remains alive and vibrant in every corner of the exile community.
