The Cuban comedian Mario Sardiñas, known for his character Chequera from the show Vivir del cuento, posted a reel on Facebook where, with his characteristic humor, points to gasoline as the cause of the "major conflicts" that Cuba is experiencing.

In the sketch, one character confronts another about a debt that hasn't been settled for a month: "Brother, you owe me this little bottle of gasoline, and you haven't paid me for it in a month. And until you pay me, I'm going to make your life a yogurt."

Chequera closes the video with a rhetorical question addressed to his regular audience: "Isn't it true that gasoline is causing major conflicts?"

The phrase humorously summarizes a very real social tension on the island, where the price of a liter of gasoline on the black market has exceeded 4,000 Cuban pesos and the queues at gas stations create daily friction.

Other Cuban comedians have also addressed the topic. Reuel Remedios, through his character Lindoro Incapaz, warned this month that "you buy 10 liters of gasoline and you go two months without eating".
