Havana speaks clearly with Cuban influencer: "We are suffering from hunger."

Havananos intercepted on the street by influencer Lino García, known as El Creador Cubano, told him directly that hunger and the lack of water are now part of daily life in Cuba.

In a reel published on Facebook that has garnered over 7,000 views, a citizen summarizes the situation with a straightforward statement: "We are suffering from hunger. The people of Cuba are suffering from hunger and need. The government has taken everything. It has taken everything."

Another testimony from a Cuban mother reveals how a child has gone a week without attending school due to a lack of water at home.

The reel is part of a series of content that the creator has published in recent weeks documenting their time on the island and the daily struggles faced by the people.

On April 24th, El Creador Cubano shared a tearful video in which he pleaded, “Give me back what I had, give me back my Cuba.” That clip exceeded 622,000 views on Facebook.

The water crisis mentioned in the video is not anecdotal. More than 200,000 residents of Havana lack regular access to drinking water, according to data from April 2026.

87% of the supply system relies on the electrical grid, which means that every blackout halts the water pumps. Only 135 out of 480 pumping stations are protected against power outages.

Food scarcity is not new either. A report from the Food Monitor Program on April 15 revealed that five provinces are experiencing extreme levels of food insecurity: Havana, Matanzas, Cienfuegos, Guantánamo, and Santiago de Cuba.
