A man was arrested at the Trump National Doral Golf Club in Doral, Florida, after becoming disruptive at a security checkpoint and making physical contact with a Secret Service agent, according to a statement from the federal agency.
The incident occurred this Saturday around 4:15 PM, when the individual approached a security control area staffed by federal agents and officers from the Doral Police.
According to the authorities, the man refused to follow orders and escalated the confrontation to physically assault a member of the Secret Service.
"During the incident, the individual was confrontational and did not obey legitimate orders. Subsequently, they came into physical contact with a member of the Secret Service and were detained without further incidents," stated Michael Townsend, acting special agent in charge of the Miami office of the Secret Service.
The Doral Police formally charged the suspect with disturbing the peace and resisting arrest without violence.
The detainee was transferred to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami.
A video recorded at the scene shows the man being handcuffed; in the audio, a witness can be heard saying that the arrested man is "getting a good beating."
The authorities did not immediately disclose the identity of the suspect.
The president Donald Trump was not at the complex at the time of the incident, although he had visited the site that morning with his family.
Townsend emphasized that "at no time did this situation affect the security measures established for the upcoming visits to the Trump National Doral by individuals under the protection of the Secret Service."
The arrest occurred during the third round of the 2026 Cadillac Championship on the PGA Tour, a tournament that marked the circuit's return to Trump National Doral for the first time since 2016, with a purse of $20 million.
In light of Trump's scheduled visit to the tournament this Sunday, the PGA Tour had implemented enhanced security measures with metal detectors at all entrances to the venue.
The incident occurs in a context of heightened alert regarding the president's security, just a week after the shooting at the White House Correspondents' Dinner at the Washington Hilton, in Washington D.C.
In that attack, Cole Thomas Allen, 31, barged in armed with a shotgun, a pistol, and several knives, and fired between five and eight shots near the metal detectors in the venue.
A Secret Service agent survived a gunshot thanks to his bulletproof vest, while Trump and other high-ranking officials were evacuated unharmed.
The Department of Justice filed three federal charges against Allen on April 28, including attempted murder of the president.
After that attack, Trump remained steadfast in the face of the shooting and continued with his public agenda without visible interruptions.
