Manolín El Médico de la Salsa published a message this Sunday on Facebook titled "A Happy Day is Approaching," in which he envisions what Cuba would be like in freedom and democracy, and addresses his words directly to the leaders of the regime who, according to him, have taken away the people's most sacred right.

"Freedom and democracy are the greatest gifts that a people can receive, especially the Cuban people who have suffered so much in these nearly 70 years from the blows of a dictatorship that has taken away their most sacred right," wrote the singer in his post.

As a concrete example of what freedom means, Manolín evokes a simple yet powerful image: "It will be beautiful to see Cubans confront different ideas on TV, without either of them risking losing their job or the threat of beatings and jail for expressing their ideas freely."

The artist contrasts this vision with the reality which he describes as "the kidnapping of power, authoritarianism, censorship, blackmail, repression, imprisonment, and exile," and asserts that this is not the country that Cubans desire.

In the text, Manolín also delivers a direct message to the leaders of the regime, whom he calls "fools of the dictatorship": "I hope they are alive somewhere to see it and realize how crazy they were. So they can see what they didn't allow us to do with our country."

Monday's post is the latest in a series of political statements that the singer has intensified in recent weeks.

On April 17, Manolín criticized Díaz-Canel's call for preparations against an alleged military aggression from the United States, stating: "It's always been like this; they never call on the people for anything good. For Angola, war; for Ethiopia, war... and now war in Cuba too."

On April 24, he published an extensive allegory titled “It Was Never Love, It Was a Kidnapping”, in which he compared the dictatorship to a kidnapper and urged the Cuban people: “Do not save your executioner, it is the time for freedom.”

This digital activism by Manolín occurs in a context of documented repressive escalation in Cuba, where the regime declared 2026 as the "Year of Preparation for Defense" and Raúl Castro approved "State of War" plans.

Manolín's opposing stance is not new. Back in March 2020, the singer called for the overthrow of the dictatorship with the words: "We bring it down by bringing it down together, raising our voices, denouncing its abuses. Long live freedom and democracy. No more dictatorship."

"A happy day is approaching," concludes Manolín in his post, with a tone more hopeful than combative, projecting the image of a country that Cubans will build together, with different ideas, when freedom arrives.
