The Cuban YouTuber Dina Stars experienced one of the most anticipated moments of her life in Spain yesterday: the reunion with her mother, Ileana Fernández, after eight months apart, as documented in the video published on her YouTube channel last Sunday.
Ileana traveled from Cuba to Spain to be with her daughter before the birth of her grandson, baby Derek, whose delivery is imminent: Dina is nine months pregnant.
The reunion took place at a train station, where Dina Stars awaited her mother alongside her partner Isaías and her friend "Puti Stars." Despite being heavily pregnant, Dina wore high heels and confessed to having slept only four hours due to excitement.
"I'm already in Spain, you, my love, eager to hug you. Did you cry? Of course," said the mother during the journey on a phone call that was recorded in the video.
The embrace between them was the culmination of a long period of separation forced by emigration. "Who tells you that we haven't seen each other in eight months? That's nothing. To me, it feels like eight centuries," Dina said to her mother.
The YouTuber acknowledged that her emotions overwhelmed her: "I feel like I still haven't processed it. Everything has happened so fast that I haven't even had time to cry."
To welcome her mother, Dina had prepared congri and beef steaks at home, and there was a bouquet of roses waiting in the grandmother's room. Upon entering the house, Ileana couldn’t hide her astonishment: "What a beautiful house my girl has," she exclaimed, and later added, "In person, your house looks three times more beautiful."
A follower named Sheila also left a welcome gift in the mother's room: a device for making marshmallows with chocolate, along with a note that Dina read aloud: "Welcome to Spain and this beautiful new chapter, the life of a grandmother. May this be just a small luxury among all the ones you deserve for being such a strong, hardworking woman full of love."
The journey was also filled with firsts for Ileana: she had never ridden an escalator or traveled on a high-speed train, experiences that were captured with humor and warmth in the video.
The news of the mother's arrival in Spain was leaked before Dina could announce it: the portal Cubayama published a photo of Ileana alongside the YouTuber's mother-in-law, something that Dina lamented while laughing.
This reunion represents the emotional closure of a long cycle of separation. Dina Stars arrived in Madrid in May 2022 after being detained by the Cuban State Security in July 2021 while she was giving a live statement about the protests on July 11. Since then, her mother has remained in Cuba.
In September 2025, Dina traveled to Havana to visit her mother, and in April 2026, Ileana saw the 5D ultrasound of the baby via video call from Cuba, getting emotional at the sight of her future grandchild.
Dina also participated in the Spanish show 'First Dates' in November 2022, where she was introduced as a 26-year-old Cuban woman who had just arrived in Spain.
As the video wrapped up, just before one in the morning, DinaStars sent a message to her followers: “Dinamitas, nothing is impossible. If you have a dream, run, run and make it happen.” Her mother, for her part, repeated incredulously: “I’m in Spain, I can’t believe it. I can’t believe it. I can’t believe it.”
