What was supposed to be a celebration of luxury and excitement turned into a viral controversy: the gender reveal of Tekashi 6ix9ine and his Cuban girlfriend Aliday Alter, held last Friday, was overshadowed by some comments from the rapper that ignited social media within hours.
The event, broadcast live with the presence of streamers Adin Ross, N3ON, and Clavicular, confirmed that the couple is expecting a boy, their first child together, with a burst of blue confetti that brought a wide smile to the rapper's face. The decoration was predominantly blue, and Aliday wore a fitted white dress for the occasion.
But before the revelation, 6ix9ine dropped the phrase that put him in the eye of the storm.
On two different occasions during the livestream, the rapper openly stated that if the baby was not a boy, they would be "straight to the abortion clinic." The exact phrase, captured in a clip that went viral on TikTok, was: "If it's not a boy, straight to the abortion, right?"
When those present asked Aliday for her opinion, she laughed and said she thought it would be a girl. Tekashi didn't hesitate: he responded that she was "in agreement" and had an "open mind."
The streamers reacted with awkward laughter and visible surprise. N3ON, who watched the clip alongside Adin Ross, asked if 6ix9ine was aware of how that would come across on the internet. Adin Ross described the moment as "awkward and unnecessary."
The trending clips began circulating immediately on TikTok and Instagram, racking up hundreds of thousands of views within hours. One of the videos alone surpassed 433,000 views on the platform.
Reactions on social media were divided from the very beginning.
Many users described the comments as "disturbing," "misogynistic," and a "total lack of respect," especially since they were made during a family celebration and live broadcast. "That's not funny," wrote several. "What a lack of respect for Aliday and for any woman," noted others.
But there were those who came to the rapper's defense, arguing that it was black humor characteristic of his personality. "Tekashi being Tekashi," summarized some followers. "It's a joke, relax," others insisted in the comments.
The debate spread to X and Instagram under the hashtags #6ix9ine and #GenderReveal, generating tens of thousands of interactions.
The context of the couple adds depth to the story. Aliday Alter is a 29-year-old Cuban model based in Miami who began her relationship with the rapper in April 2025. In September of that year, Aliday got a full-face tattoo of Tekashi —including the "69" on her forehead and neck— as a symbol of her love.
The pregnancy was confirmed by the rapper himself on April 7, 2026, just five days after being released from the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center, where he had served three months for violating his probation. "She got pregnant while I was in jail," he said during a stream with Adin Ross and N3ON at that time.
Last Wednesday, Aliday posted on Instagram a carousel of photos showcasing her advanced pregnancy surrounded by Hermès bags and jewelry, with the message "Baby on the way."
Tekashi already has two daughters from previous relationships; this would be his third child and the first boy. N3ON closed the debate with a reflection that many shared: he hopes that 6ix9ine becomes the father his daughter deserves, regardless of his initial preferences. Once again, the rapper managed to turn a personal moment into a global trend.
