An immigrant mother organized a surprise birthday celebration for her daughter in Cuba from abroad, which culminated in an in-person reunion, in an emotional video posted on TikTok this Monday by the account Sorpre_Combos_Lidise_SS.

In the clip, an entertainer presents the girl with a series of gifts while reading a message from her mother: “All these gifts are from your mom right now. She wants you to know how special you are to her, so you’ll never forget that you are the beautiful princess who lives in her heart.”

The host also conveys the words in which the mother describes her daughter as "that little ray of a brilliant leader who gives her the strength to keep moving forward and fighting for a better future."

The climax arrives when the entertainer asks the little girl to close her eyes and make a wish, only to then reveal the biggest surprise: the presence of her own mother, who appears in person to celebrate the birthday with her.

"Hey? You liked it, didn't you? We've brought you your greatest wish, right? And now we're going to let you enjoy your gifts and your mom, my love," the host concludes.

The account @wwwcomboslidise is part of an ecosystem of small Cuban businesses that offer surprise birthday packages —including decorations, cakes, balloons, and entertainers— contracted and paid for by family members from abroad, allowing them to participate in the most important moments of their children's lives despite the distance.

This trend frequently occurs on TikTok among the Cuban diaspora. Last March, a Cuban surprised her mother on her birthday by arriving on the island unexpectedly. In April, a Cuban father surprised his daughter at the airport on her birthday in another video that went viral. Also in April, a Cuban returned after six years without seeing her daughter, in a reunion described as heart-wrenching.

The videos of these surprises resonate deeply within the Cuban community abroad, which identifies with the pain of separation and the joy of reunion. In a context where celebrating a birthday is an unattainable luxury for many families on the island, receiving gifts organized from abroad represents an act of love and sacrifice that moves thousands of followers.

More than 500,000 Cubans emigrated to the United States between 2022 and 2025, leaving behind children, parents, and partners, and turning social media into the main emotional bridge between separated families.
