A Cuban resident in Miami, who had previously been charged with breaking slot machines in Hialeah, was arrested again this Monday for the same crime, after damaging one of these gaming devices with a metal bar inside a market and stealing approximately $2,000 in cash.

Alejandro Izaguirre, 50 years old and a resident of the West Little River neighborhood in Miami, is facing charges of grand theft in the third degree and property damage valued at $1,000 or more, authorities reported.

The incident occurred on May 2nd at the Bora Bora Market, located at 3296 Palm Ave., in Hialeah, according to the arrest report.

According to the police, Izaguirre entered the establishment around 1:30 p.m. to play the slot machine; then he left, went to his vehicle, opened the trunk, and returned to the business carrying the metal object.

With the bar, he broke the machine, causing damages of over $1,000, took the cash, and fled in his vehicle before the police arrived at the scene, around 3:15 p.m.

An employee of the Bora Bora Market reviewed the surveillance camera footage and described the suspect to the officers. The victim indicated that the man had visited the establishment previously and that he might be named Alejandro.

The officer who reviewed the video this Monday recognized the suspect: it was the same person he had arrested on September 18, 2025, for a similar incident in Hialeah.

The investigators went to Izaguirre's home and arrested him. During the arrest, his girlfriend asked him why he was being detained, and he spontaneously replied that it was because of the slot machines, according to the police report.

Arrest record of Alejandro Izaguirre. Captured by Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation

Izaguirre faces charges of third-degree grand theft and criminal damage exceeding $1,000. His bail was set at $5,000.

However, he remains confined in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade under a migration hold imposed by immigration authorities.

In December 2025, another Cuban was arrested in Hialeah for destroying at least four slot machines at the RC La Atenas Market & Smoke Shop after losing $3,800 on them.
