A motorcycle was left suspended on a traffic light pole after a violent collision with a car in Delta, British Columbia, south of Vancouver, Canada, in a scene that witnesses immediately compared to an action movie.
The impact occurred on May 9 at the intersection of Scott Road and 71 Avenue, at the entrance of the Scottsdale Centre shopping mall. The force of the collision was so great that the motorcycle was thrown into the air and ended up literally hanging from the traffic sign post, where it remained until the arrival of emergency teams.
The journalist Sarbraj Singh Kahlon, from the OMNI News network, was one of the first to document the scene and published the video on the social network X, describing it as having occurred "following a collision between a vehicle and a motorcycle" on Scott Road.
According to the Delta Police Department, the motorcyclist sustained serious but non-fatal injuries and was taken to the hospital. The driver of the car was not injured.
A section of Scott Road was closed to traffic and detours were put in place while emergency crews removed vehicles and debris from the roadway.
Authorities noted speed as a possible contributing factor to the accident, although the Delta Police did not issue any official press statement regarding the incident despite its widespread circulation on social media.
A second video, shared on the Instagram account @onlyindade, captured the entire sequence of the impact and the flight of the motorcycle, further amplifying the spread of the incident across digital platforms.
The image of the motorcycle suspended at the traffic light, a sight hard to believe without seeing it, circulated across social media worldwide and generated thousands of reactions from users who couldn’t believe what they were seeing.
Scott Road is one of the busiest thoroughfares in North Delta, an area with high vehicle density in the metropolitan Vancouver region, making this type of accident a reminder of the dangers of speeding on busy urban roads.
