A bouquet of black roses arrived for Thalía (@la_thalia__) on Mother's Day, and the image that the young woman posted on Instagram immediately became the topic of the day on Cuban social media.
The video showed the young mother —with long braids, sunglasses, a black top, and a smile that said it all— receiving the gift in Regla, Havana, while "Desde Que te tengo" by Carin León played in the background.
The message written in the video left no doubt about the intention of the gesture: "These black roses are for you, as they represent strength, elegance, and how unique you are. I hope this detail reminds you of how much you are loved and admired. Happy Mother's Day!"
What the publication did not reveal was who commissioned the gift, and that silence was enough to spark the curiosity of thousands of followers.
Thalía responded to the florist's post with a brief yet heartfelt "I love you so much," without revealing anything about the sender.
The question that everyone was asking came quickly in the comments: "Shall I say who sent them? Thali looks so beautiful," wrote one user, summarizing what many were thinking.
And then someone noticed it: among the "likes" on the post was the profile of @velito_el_bufon, Thalía's ex. "Velito liked it," someone pointed out.
The context made it even more interesting. Just days earlier, Velito had arrived in Havana with his new partner, Paula Martínez, and publicly introduced her as "my wife" in front of the cameras of La Familia Cubana over the weekend.
The breakup between Thalía and Velito became public on February 20th, just 11 days after the birth of their second child, Thiago, under much-discussed circumstances: the singer left Cuba three days after the delivery for a European tour.
Since then, Thalía has built an image of a strong and independent woman with messages that went viral, such as the powerful statement "No more single mother, I am a single woman, my children are not looking for a dad," which gathered over 409,000 views in April.
That recent trajectory explains why so many followers reacted to the bouquet with messages of emotional support, beyond the mystery surrounding the sender.
"No one knows what is happening and how beautifully she has become an excellent woman and mother day by day," or "No one knows her pain, her suffering, and everything she has gone through in these last few months, but let me tell you something: God gives his toughest battles to his best warriors, and you have shown that you are one of them," they told the mother of two.
On Mother's Day itself, Thalía posted a message of her own that garnered over 16,000 likes: "Congratulations to me for feeling that I've done a good job despite starting early."
Who commissioned the black roses remains a mystery. But it's clear that the young woman loved the surprise.
