The US dollar opened this Friday at 545 Cuban pesos (CUP) in the informal currency market in Cuba, remaining the reference currency for thousands of Cubans who rely on remittances or need to purchase essential goods.

The U.S. dollar continues to remain at high levels amid inflation and a cash shortage in the country.

The euro is currently valued at 625 CUP, solidifying its position as the most valuable foreign currency in the Cuban informal market. The demand for euros continues to grow among travelers and emigrants. The European currency maintains a significant difference compared to the dollar.

The Freely Convertible Currency (MLC) is at 430 CUP this Friday. Although its value remains below that of the dollar and the euro, it continues to be essential for purchases in state-run stores stocked with foreign currency.
