A Cuban resident in Lehigh Acres, Florida, known on TikTok as El Magnifico (@el.magnifico01), posted a warning video for his community after an attempt was made to steal his truck at 12:15 AM last Saturday.
The author recorded the video just an hour after the incident, at 1:10 AM, visibly disturbed and with the intention of alerting his neighbors and all the truck owners in the area.
"It's already one ten in the morning because I gave a tremendous scare. At a quarter past twelve at night, they tried to take my truck," he recounted in the video.
According to his testimony, he was asleep when he heard the doorbell and checked the cameras but saw no one, although he did notice the sound of a motorcycle passing by.
Seconds later, the vehicle's alarm went off automatically.
"The truck's alarm went off. The truck has an alarm system, thank God. Because of that, the alarm goes off, I come out quickly, and a motorcycle sped by next to the truck," he described.
When attempting to chase them in his own car, it was impossible: the alleged thieves fled at full speed and he could not identify them.
Upon inspecting the vehicle, no visible dents were found, although there are suspicions that the door was tampered with.
The Cuban's message was direct for those living in Lehigh Acres: "If you live in Lehigh, be very careful, be extremely careful, because in a matter of seconds, everything you have can be taken away."
The author also reflected on the effort that it represents for a worker to lose their main tool: "This brings you back to everything you've been through, tremendous sacrifice, tremendous work to be able to have it, and you end up with nothing."
His wife, as he recounted, advised him to look on the bright side: "As my wife used to say, cheer up. God knows you neither saw nor could confront anyone."
The video closed with a message to the person responsible for the attempt: "Worry about working, worry about fighting for yourself and your family, not about ruining the life of someone who works hard and never stops."
Lehigh Acres is an unincorporated community in Lee County, in southwestern Florida, with a growing presence of Cuban immigrants who work independently in sectors such as construction, transportation, and services.
The theft of trucks and work vehicles is a recurring problem in the area. In July 2025, four Cubans in Florida were accused of stealing electronic modules from trucks, affecting at least 93 owners. That same year, a resident of Lehigh Acres faced federal charges for his alleged role in a theft ring targeting luxury vehicles and trucks in the state.
For many Cubans in exile, the truck represents their main investment and source of income, making its loss a devastating economic blow. The video gathered over 110,800 views and was shared more than 1,700 times, reflecting the impact of the message within the community.
