Ricardo Arjona surprised his social media followers by making a video call to the mother of a waitress who had served him at a restaurant, in a gesture that went viral this week and was praised by thousands of users as an uncommon display of humility for an artist of his stature.
The clip, published on TikTok by user @yack26877, shows the Guatemalan singer-songwriter making a video call while still at the restaurant and greeting the mother of the young woman who had served them.
“Good morning, ma'am... we came to ask for a table for your daughter, and she didn't want to give us one here. She told me there was no table for us,” Arjona tells the woman with a joking tone.
The singer went further and revealed to the mother that her daughter had shared a secret with him: "Your daughter told me two things: one, that there was no table for us, and two, that you didn’t have a good time at the concert yesterday."
The mother, visibly moved, immediately contradicted her daughter: "Of course I did, I had an amazing time."
Arjona ended the call with heartfelt words: "Look, dear, I'm going to leave you a little kiss here; your daughter will take care of you," while the lady thanked him for "filling me with dopamine" at the concert yesterday.
The video accumulated 1.9 million views, nearly 146,000 likes, and over 10,700 shares in just a few days, with comments consistently highlighting the artist's simplicity.
"The greatness of an artist is demonstrated in simple acts," wrote a user. Another follower added, "How great the humility of this guy... applause for a great among the greats."
It is not the first time during this tour that the artist has shared a viral moment of closeness with his audience. In April, Arjona brought a Cuban fan named Maidelys on stage in Miami to celebrate her 40th birthday, performing "Señora de las cuatro décadas" for her.
In the midst of the same tour, Arjona announced that he has recorded a new album with 17 songs in just five days in Nashville, highlighting the creative momentum that has defined this stage of his career.
