The Ministry of Revolutionary Armed Forces (MINFAR) posted on its official Facebook page a reel showing several soldiers during a training session, and the reaction of Cubans on social media quickly turned into an avalanche of mockery.
The video was accompanied by a quote from Fidel Castro: “I am sure that the only way for revolutionary processes to survive is through resistance,” under the hashtag #FARCuba.
The post accumulated over 92,500 views, 3,625 likes, and 888 comments, with the vast majority being ironic and sarcastic.
The tone of the comments was unanimous: users mocked the poor quality of the facilities, the physical condition of the soldiers, and the contrast with the elite American forces.
"Oh my God... the Delta Force are going to die... but from laughing," wrote a user identified as Missy Groot, in the comment that became the most quoted in the thread.
Others pointed directly to the food crisis affecting the Cuban population. "A lot of training, but when it comes time to eat, it's beans with weevils and plantains," noted Luis Alberto Rodriguez Quintana.
"Resistance in the Times of Mango," summarized ironically by Jose Luis Truc Truc.
The facilities also came under criticism. "Wow, what well-equipped gyms! I imagine the Navy Seals are envious of these facilities right now," wrote Martín Vicario.
"The gym in my neighborhood has better equipment than that dump," added Irving M Trujeque.
Some users took the comparison further. "I send these videos to my son, a Navy SEAL in South Carolina, and everyone on his base is dying of laughter," stated Yoel Vazquez.
"What they need to practice is the hundred meters flat, to run when the Delta Force arrives," concluded Felipe T. Guerra.
The video is part of the propaganda offensive that the MINFAR has strengthened on social media following the pressure measures implemented by the Trump administration.
Since then, the ministry has regularly published content on social media featuring military exercises, maneuvers, and warning messages, but each post has had the opposite effect of what was intended.
The maneuvers with old motorcycles in January sparked memes, just like a video of Díaz-Canel participating in military exercises that same month.
In May, the training of the so-called Black Wasps of Matanzas did not avoid public ridicule, despite the regime presenting this regiment as an elite unit with martial arts training and its own gym.
On May 5th, MINFAR stated that "the order for a ceasefire will never be given" in another propaganda message that also faced ridicule.
The Cuban food crisis has become the common thread of all these reactions: Cubans point out that no militaristic rhetoric can be upheld when the soldiers themselves suffer from the same food shortages as the rest of the population, turning every video from MINFAR into an involuntary reminder of the country’s deficiencies after 67 years of dictatorship.
