The Cuban tiktoker Shanay Carter posted a video in which she plays a prank on her grandmother by pretending to record a clip to apply for a scholarship, and the elderly woman's reaction became a pure moment of humor that has continued to circulate within the Cuban community on social media.
In the video posted on TikTok, Shanay presents herself to the camera with a dramatic tone and claims that her grandmother "begged for money" and "prostituted herself" to bring her to the United States from Cuba, where she was abandoned by her mother at four months old.
In the video, Shanay also mentions that her grandmother has diabetes, is disabled, and that she takes care of all her expenses.
The grandmother, who didn't know it was all a joke, interrupts the video immediately with an indignation that leaves no room for doubt: "How could you say that I begged in the street?"
Far from calming down, the elderly woman continues to protest: “God, everyone knows me for fighting like a crazy person, for being a fighter and all that, but as a prostitute? For God’s sake.”
"That goes straight to school. That's why we're telling lies," the young woman said to her grandmother in an attempt to keep the joke going.
The sweetest moment came when he confessed that those lies could keep him awake: "You know, I had a terrible nightmare yesterday. Can you imagine? If you say that, I won't be able to sleep anymore."
The comments from the Cuban community were quick to come in. One user wrote: "First time I've seen someone who doesn't laugh," while another stated: "She's the real artist."
