Robeisy Ramírez's most anticipated fight is cancelled at the last minute

Robeisy Ramírez reported that the promoter Raizd Boxing and the WBC canceled his fight in Uzbekistan at the last minute due to an inability to pay the agreed purse.

The comeback fight of Robeisy «El Tren» Ramírez was canceled at the last minute this Friday in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, when the Cuban boxer was already prepared to step into the ring after nearly 17 months away.

The fight against the Uzbek Asror Vokhidov, organized by the Raizd Boxing promotion with the endorsement of the World Boxing Council (WBC), was suspended on the day of the event, as reported by Ramírez himself on his social media.

The official excuse was that it was not possible to perform an MRI that day due to a public holiday in Uzbekistan, and that the results would take three days.

Ramírez immediately refuted that version: on his own initiative, he contacted a clinic, underwent the examination, and published the MRI scans with visible date and time: May 29, 2026 at 5:37 PM, hours before the scheduled fight.

"The supposed promoter @raizdboxing, with the endorsement of @wbcboxing, said that it was not possible to get an MRI today and that the results would take three days. The MRI is clearly dated today, May 29, 2026, at 5:37 PM, performed and delivered on the same day, just hours before my fight. The evidence is in my hands. I am ready to fight," wrote the boxer.

In a video lasting over 13 minutes published hours later, Ramírez explained in detail what happened and directly accused the promoters of having breached their obligations from the very beginning.

"The bastards didn't want to pay, the promoters failed to fulfill everything. They couldn't even manage the most basic thing, which is simply the tickets," he stated.

According to the boxer, the problems began before traveling: the promoters did not pay for the tickets to Uzbekistan and during the negotiations they tried to impose a mandatory contract of three fights as a condition to receive the initial agreed-upon purse payment.

"In order for them to see that first money, I had to sign a required three-fight contract. That's the promoter's point," he noted.

Ramírez also criticized the WBC, accusing it of acting in its own economic interests by canceling the main fight to continue with the rest of the event: "It seems that's how the WBC operates; I didn't know that. I had never had any dealings with this world council of pockets."

The Cuban emphasized that his health is perfect and that he even stepped into the ring on the day of the event. "There's nothing wrong with my health, nothing is wrong at all, I'm super good and ready to fight, it's just that the promoters are useless like Díaz Canel himself," he declared.

He also emphasized that, fortunately, he never signed the contract with the promoters, which spared him from being bound to an agreement he deemed abusive.

This fight was particularly significant for Ramírez: it marked his return to the ring after the painful rematch on December 9, 2024 against the Mexican Rafael Espinoza, which ended in a technical knockout in the sixth round with a fracture of the right orbital bone.

For this comeback, the double Olympic champion had made radical changes: he left the Top Rank promotion and joined the renowned coach Robert García, as reported by El Nuevo Herald.

Ramírez closed his message with a warning for other boxers: "This is advice for newer fighters, to be careful about what they tell you, how they present it to you as something beautiful, and in the end, there's always a thorn behind it."

The Cuban assured that he will move forward and that he will seek to fight as soon as possible: "As soon as I can, what I want is to fight. If it can be done next week, the following week, whenever it comes, with whomever, I will come back stronger, make no mistake."
