A single-engine Cessna 172P aircraft crashed this morning on the campus of the South Florida State Hospital, a psychiatric facility located in Pembroke Pines, Broward County, according to reports from the Pembroke Pines Police.

The accident occurred around 11:30 a.m., when the aircraft crashed onto a grassy area north of the hospital, at 800 East Cypress Drive.

The two occupants were hospitalized with injuries, although the police confirmed that both were conscious and breathing when emergency services arrived.

Authorities clarified that no additional injuries were reported among people on the ground and that traffic in the vicinity would not be affected.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and its aircraft database, the registered owner of the Cessna 172P is Trajectory Aviation LLC, based in Hollywood, Florida.

The company offers flight training and aerial photography with drones and manned aircraft, and the crashed plane is listed in the training section of its website.

According to data from FlightAware, the aircraft took off from the North Perry airport at 7:57 a.m. and landed at the Okeechobee County airport at 9:04 a.m.

Shortly after, it took off again from Okeechobee at 9:41 a.m. heading back to North Perry, during which the accident occurred.

Images captured from the Sky 10 helicopter of Local 10 showed the aircraft overturned on the grass of the hospital, with its wings detached and bent, and the fuselage severely damaged.

The impact also knocked down at least one small tree in the area.

Broward County has been the scene of several light aviation accidents in recent years.

In July 2025, a small plane crashed in a residential area one mile from North Perry Airport with four occupants on board, all of whom survived.

In August 2023, two people died after another plane crashed at the same airport, and that same month a Broward air rescue helicopter crashed into homes.

The investigation into the accident was still ongoing at the time of this report, and the authorities had not yet released details about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
