The White House physician, Captain Sean P. Barbabella, concluded this Friday that President Donald Trump "is in excellent health, demonstrating solid cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and overall physical function" and that "he is fully fit to perform all duties as Commander in Chief and Head of State," according to the official memorandum published by the White House.

The annual physical examination took place on May 26 at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and included consultations with 22 specialists from various academic institutions, as well as a thorough review of all diagnostic studies and laboratory tests from the past year.

Trump, at 79 years old and soon to turn 80 on June 14, recorded vital signs within normal ranges: weight of 238 pounds (~108 kg), blood pressure of 105/71 mmHg, resting heart rate of 73 beats per minute, and oxygen saturation of 98%.

Cardiovascular results were particularly notable. The coronary angiography via computed tomography showed no arterial obstructions or structural anomalies, and an electrocardiogram analysis enhanced by artificial intelligence estimated that Trump's heart age is approximately 14 years younger than his chronological age.

In the neurological and cognitive assessment, the evaluation using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment resulted in a perfect score of 30 out of 30. The screening tests for depression and anxiety were also normal, as were the assessments of motor strength, reflexes, gait, and balance.

The lipid panel showed optimal values: total cholesterol of 143 mg/dL, LDL of 53 mg/dL, and HDL of 70 mg/dL. Fasting glucose was 83.2 mg/dL, and hemoglobin A1c was 5.3, both within the normal range.

The report also documents minor findings. Mild swelling was detected in the lower legs, showing improvement compared to the previous year, consistent with chronic venous insufficiency diagnosed in July 2025. Additionally, bruising was observed on the back of the hands, which Barbabella attributed to "minor soft tissue irritation related to frequent handshakes in the context of aspirin use for cardiovascular prevention," describing it as a "common and benign effect."

The document also notes the scar on the right ear, consistent with the gunshot wound sustained in the attack in July 2024. Trump does not use tobacco or alcohol, and his current medications are rosuvastatin, ezetimibe, and aspirin.

This examination takes place in a context of ongoing scrutiny regarding the health of the oldest sitting president in the history of the United States. In March 2026, a reddish spot on his neck caused public alarm, although Barbabella explained it as a preventive dermatological treatment. A poll conducted by Washington Post, ABC News, and Ipsos in April 2026 revealed that less than half of American adults believed that Trump possessed the mental acuity and physical health necessary to effectively serve as president.

The doctor recommended to the president an increase in physical activity, dietary guidance, and continued weight loss, and noted that "his demanding daily schedule, which includes multiple high-level meetings, public commitments, and regular physical activity, continues to support his overall well-being."
