The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) published a message in Spanish this Saturday from its official account on X (@DHSgov), reaffirming that agents from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) are keeping up the pace of their operations against criminals across the country.
"The heroes of @ICEgov are not slowing down in their mission to remove criminals from our communities and make our nation SAFE again. This week, ICE arrested murderers, pedophiles, child abusers, and sexual predators," noted DHS in the post.
The message comes one day after the White House launched the controversial campaign "They Walk Among Us", which equates undocumented immigrants with science fiction aliens and includes an interactive map of real-time arrests.
During the weekend of May 26, ICE reported the arrest of at least 15 convicted immigrants, including 13 men and two women, from the Dominican Republic, China, Angola, Mexico, and several South American countries.
Among the crimes committed by the arrested individuals are continuous sexual abuse of minors, aggravated sexual assault, and criminal sexual assault, with prior convictions in states such as New York, Florida, Texas, Illinois, and Minnesota.
The DHS described the detainees from the weekend as "pedophiles, sexual deviants, kidnappers, and other violent thugs," according to Fox News.
The operations are part of the "Worst of the Worst" campaign, which the Trump administration uses to present its immigration raids as a fight against crime. In this context, the White House introduced on May 20 Cuban Héctor Hechavarría Rivaflecha, who has convictions for first-degree murder and aggravated assault in Miami.
On May 13, ICE arrested three Cubans with convictions for serious crimes against minors, assault, and theft, and the day before, they apprehended in Virginia Eduardo Pérez Legrá, a Cuban with six convictions for drug trafficking, found in possession of fentanyl and cocaine.
The arrests of Cubans by ICE increased by 463% between October 2024 and January 2026, and 42,084 Cubans have final deportation orders in the United States.
At the national level, Miami leads immigration raids with 120 daily arrests, according to reports from April, while border czar Tom Homan announced in May the imminent arrival of mass deportations.
Under Operation Predator, ICE arrested more than 2,000 child predators and sexual offenders in less than eight months, one of the most cited programs by DHS to justify its operations.
The official goal of the administration is to deport at least one million people per fiscal year, although in its first year it recorded approximately 600,000 deportations, while the Dominican Republic agreed to receive deportees each month as part of the deportation agreements signed with 27 countries.
