A traffic stop in Lee County, Florida, turned into a chaotic spectacle when the driver’s fiancée unleashed a scene that resulted in her arrest for aggravated assault on an officer.

The video published by the Midwest Safety channel on YouTube has garnered over 1.3 million views and has sparked intense debate on social media.

Everything began when agents from the Lee County Sheriff's Office detected a vehicle traveling at 109 miles per hour (175 km/h) in an area with a speed limit of 50 mph.

In attempting to stop, the driver veered into oncoming traffic and nearly caused a head-on collision before finally coming to a halt.

Agent Winslowitz was the first to approach: "That was a huge mistake. Do you realize you almost collided with another car?"

The driver, identified as Alejandro, admitted to having consumed alcohol - "a little," in his own words - and he did not speak English fluently, so the officers requested a Spanish translator to conduct the sobriety tests.

The bride who turned a fine into a disaster

From the very first moment, Alejandro's fiancée, identified as Kila, began to complicate the police work.

He initially refused to hand over his identification: "I wasn't driving. Are you going to handcuff me even though I didn't participate?" he snapped at the officers.

The officers explained to him that, under the Florida Statute 316.191 regarding illegal racing, even bystanders can be charged.

While they waited for the interpreter, Kila pleaded that her boyfriend not be arrested: "I don’t want him to be taken into custody. A fine, anything, but I don’t want him to go to jail. I work Monday to Friday; I don’t have time for all this."

The agent calmly replied, "You're begging the wrong person."

In a moment that the video itself highlights for its surrealism, Kila asked one of the officers to crawl under the vehicle to retrieve an electronic cigarette that had fallen. Hoping that it would calm her down. The officer complied.

The arrest and the panic over the car

After completing the sobriety tests with the help of a translator, Alejandro was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Kila then fell into total panic. The vehicle was registered in the name of her deceased father - "it's the last thing he left me," she repeated several times - and the possibility of it being towed completely threw her off balance.

He called his mother on the phone and in Spanish -with an accent that could very well be Cuban- told her that he was in "Naples."

The surprise was that the agents had to correct it: it was in Fort Myers, near Bass Road and Summerlin Road.

The mother, who also didn't speak English, slipped in a "you know I can't afford it", with an accent that also sounded very Cuban.

When the agents attempted to control her physically, Kila resisted, kicked, and bit one of the officers, causing a bleeding injury.

“He just drew blood from me with a bite,” declared the agent. She was then arrested for a felony.

Although the video did not disclose the nationality of those involved, several details suggest a possible Cuban origin.

The Spanish accent of Kila and that of her mother during the phone call stand out to those familiar with Caribbean speech, especially Cuban.

However, this type of incidents involving Hispanics at traffic stops is not unfamiliar in Florida, although each case has its own circumstances.

"It looked like a little girl throwing a tantrum": Strong reactions on social media

The predominant opinion in the comments was overwhelmingly critical of the woman involved in the incident.

Most users describe her as immature, contentious, and emotionally unstable, repeatedly comparing her behavior to that of a small child throwing a tantrum.

In contrast, the driver has received a relatively favorable assessment despite being attributed with serious behaviors such as driving under the influence of alcohol and at high speeds.

Many commentators find it striking that, even in those circumstances, he appeared to be the calmest, most polite, and reasonable person in the vehicle.

Some even joke that his speeding was a desperate attempt to get away from his companion or that he deserved some sympathy for having to deal with her.

There are also numerous praises for the patience displayed by the officers, particularly the female officer who tried to contain the woman for a large part of the incident.

However, a minority of users question why both the driver and the passenger received relatively light penalties, recalling that the offenses committed—such as reckless driving, the alleged state of intoxication, and assaulting an officer—could have had far more serious consequences.

The judicial outcome

Alejandro reached an agreement with the prosecution: the charge of driving under the influence of alcohol was dropped, and he accepted a no contest plea for the speeding violation, being sentenced to pay 276 dollars.

Kila was accused of serious assault against a law enforcement officer and disorderly conduct under intoxication. She accepted a plea agreement with a withheld adjudication - the judge accepted her statement without imposing a formal sentence - and was sentenced to 36 months of probation.

The narrator of the video warns that biting an on-duty officer triggers a medical and bureaucratic process that goes far beyond the arrest: health assessments, tests for exposure to communicable diseases, and workers' compensation procedures that turn the incident into a much larger issue than it appears in the footage.

Although the video was uploaded just four days ago to the mentioned YouTube channel - where it has already accumulated 1.3 million views - the incident occurred in November 2025.
