There are stories that arise from a nearly silent loss. Not from broken papers or closed borders, but from the simple unawareness of a legal procedure that can cost a family something as valuable as their Spanish nationality.

That was exactly what almost happened to Liset Cruz, a Spanish citizen by residency, before a lawyer friend alerted her in time about the act of preserving her nationality.

That conversation changed her life. And since then, Liset and her sister Lis Cruz decided that no other family would have to face that risk alone.

Two sisters, a mission, and a growing community

Liset and Lis Cruz are approved immigration consultants in the United States, with years of experience assisting individuals and families through complex migration processes on both sides of the Atlantic.

What began as a personal vocation has transformed into LC Services Group LLC, a firm specializing in immigration guidance that today informs, prepares, and documents the processes of a growing community.

Together, they provide information and training in:

  • Spanish nationality: preservation, recovery, transfer to children, and procedures under the Law of Democratic Memory

  • Student visas and Schengen visas

  • Consular registrations

  • Emigration processes to the United States

  • Comprehensive immigration information and preparation for the Hispanic community

Their approach is focused on educating, informing, supporting, and guiding each individual to understand their rights, know their options, and make decisions with confidence.

Why this mission was born: a personal story

This mission didn't come from a study or a statistic. It was born from a conversation that changed everything.

Before moving to the United States, a lawyer friend warned Liset about something she was completely unaware of: that there was an act of preservation of Spanish nationality that had to be carried out within a specific timeframe. That information, received just in time, saved her nationality.

But what makes this story special is not just the process that was avoided. It's the love that lies behind it.

For Liset, Spain is not just a country in a passport. It is a profound connection to a culture, customs, and a way of understanding the world that has grown over the years and transcended the individual. She has passed on that love to her daughters, who are Spanish citizens, because she firmly believes that Spanish nationality is something worth preserving, not only for the rights it grants but for everything it represents: a cultural heritage, roots, and identity.

"In the end, that's where we come from", says Liset. And that phrase sums it all up.

It was precisely that certainty, combined with the discovery that thousands of families never receive the information that she did in time, that ignited the spark for this mission.

One of the most concerning realities that Liset and Lis have documented in their daily work is that thousands of Spanish citizens abroad unintentionally lose their nationality. Not because they renounce it. But because they were never aware that they needed to make a legal declaration within a specified time frame.

Many discover it at the worst possible moment: when trying to renew their passport, handle consular documentation, or pass on nationality to their children. "By then, the loss of nationality has already occurred by operation of law," they assert.

Recovering it is not always straightforward. The process may involve lengthy administrative procedures, historical documentation that is hard to obtain, international travel, and significant financial costs. For many families, it becomes a path filled with obstacles.

The Spanish Nationalized Project Manual: information that protects

Driven by this reality, Liset and Lis are currently working on the development of the Spanish Nationalized Manual Project, an educational and informational initiative designed to ensure that Spanish citizens abroad understand their rights, duties, and legal obligations before it is too late.

The project is aimed at Spaniards residing outside of Spain, individuals who have obtained Spanish citizenship through various means—residency, option, the Law of Democratic Memory, recovery—and at all those who wish to actively protect their status as Spanish citizens.

A Foundation to unite Spaniards abroad

The next step in this mission is even more ambitious: the creation of the Foundation of United Spaniards, an organization focused on informing, guiding, and preserving the rights of Spanish citizens outside of Spain, with particular emphasis on maintaining nationality and preventing its loss due to lack of awareness.

Because it’s not just about completing a procedure. It’s about keeping alive a connection, an identity, and a right that belongs to thousands of families all around the world.

A community built on trust and knowledge

More than just consulting firms, they have become a reference point for the Hispanic community navigating the immigration systems of Spain and the United States.

What drives them goes beyond the paperwork

Lis and Liset Cruz have been away from their home country for almost 20 years, and throughout all this time, one thing has never changed: their commitment to civic, migratory, and humanitarian causes. It is not just a job; it is a vocation they carry with them wherever they go.

In the case of Lis, that path took shape during her legal training in Mexico, where she developed as a lawyer with a constant focus on social causes. Upon arriving in the United States, that commitment was further solidified through direct work with the community as an immigration consultant.

Liset, for her part, found in her own migration experience the most powerful motivation: to turn what was almost a personal loss into a tool of protection for many families.

And far from stopping, both continue with constant preparation because they believe that serving well requires ongoing learning. Today, Lis is pursuing a new master's degree in law in Mexico, while Liset is studying at the International University of La Rioja in Spain. Two sisters who study, work, and serve with the same energy they had from the beginning, because they know that behind every consultation is a family that trusts them.
