Real Madrid informed the Cuban winger Jenry Hernández that he will be part of the Juvenil B team of the club for the 2026-2027 season, with possibilities of getting minutes in the Juvenil A if his performance warrants it, as reported by 14ymedio.
The promotion represents a new step in the progression of the 17-year-old forward within La Fábrica, the Real Madrid youth academy. During the 2025-2026 season, Hernández played for the Juvenil C —the club's third U-19 team— and became champion of Group 1 of the Madrid Youth Autonomic First Division.
In that tournament, he played 16 matches, started 10 games, and scored three goals, although a hamstring injury hindered his consistency in the second half of the season.
Born in Pinar del Río in 2009, Hernández arrived in Spain at just one year old and developed his skills in Catalonia, where he played for Unión Esportivo Cornellà before being signed by Real Madrid in February 2024.
Since his arrival in the Spanish capital, the young footballer of Cuban origin has attracted attention for his physical attributes: he stands at 1.80 meters, reaches speed peaks close to 36 km/h, and is left-footed, characteristics that have drawn comparisons to the legendary Gareth Bale.
His potential is such that he has been called to train with Real Madrid Castilla, the second team of the senior squad, on more than one occasion. His contract with the white club ties him until 2028.
On the international stage, Hernández has already confirmed his desire to represent Cuba in the FIFA U-17 World Cup, which will take place in Qatar from November 19 to December 13 of this year, although his participation will depend on permission granted by Real Madrid.
However, his environment ruled out the possibility of the player attending the U-20 World Cup Qualifiers of Concacaf, which will take place in Mexico from July 24 to August 9, in order to prevent a relapse of his hamstring injury.
Cuba qualified for the U-17 World Cup in Qatar after 35 years of absence from this tournament — the last participation was in Italy 1991 — after the team, known as the Caribbean Lions and led by Sandro Sevillano, finished unbeaten and at the top of Group F in the qualifiers held in Guatemala.
If Real Madrid allows his participation, the Qatar World Cup could be Jenry Hernández's first major international showcase wearing the Cuban jersey.
