Can you imagine a nudist beach in Cuba? That's how this Cuban envisions it from Europe

A Cuban residing in Europe sparked laughter on TikTok by humorously imagining the chaos that would ensue if there were a nude beach in Cuba. The creator Richy Brou posted a 52-second video on Wednesday that quickly garnered reactions from the Cuban community on social media.

The TikToker shares that three days before posting the clip, he visited a European nude beach, an experience that led him to wonder aloud: "Can you imagine a nude beach in Cuba?"

The response he creates himself is a scene of pure comedy: between 150 and 800 people in the water, including neighborhood residents, classmates, and friends from the group, all without clothes.

"My brother, 150,800 people, everyone swimming, your little group, the neighborhood, the friends, the classroom, everyone," he describes with laughter, painting a picture where the closeness of Cuban society and complete nudity would be an explosive combination.

The imagined chaos doesn't end there. Richy Brou describes how, by five in the afternoon, the entanglements would already be underway: couples staring at other people's naked lovers, individuals sneaking off into the bushes, and what he bluntly refers to as "the shooters," an element he considers inevitable in that scenario.

"Carla backs up into the bushes, feeling even more dizzy, because everyone is there, so-and-so looking at this one, who is looking at the other’s boyfriend who is also naked," she recounts, accurately depicting the Cuban idiosyncrasy.

The video concludes with a summary statement: “Cuba is a different size; in Cuba, development must remain, but gently, it has to be a smooth process.”

The cultural contrast that fuels Richy Brou's humor is grounded in reality. Nudism on public beaches in Cuba is prohibited by law on the island, although it is discreetly tolerated in some tourist cays that are primarily accessible to international visitors, such as Cayo Largo, Cayo Santa María, and Cayo Ensenachos. Toplessness, on the other hand, is an accepted and widespread practice on Cuban beaches.

In Europe, naturism is a normalized cultural tradition. France has between 100 and 150 designated beaches for this purpose, and Spain boasts established destinations like Playa de Vera in Almería and Es Trenc in Mallorca.

This type of content is part of a genre that is very popular among Cubans in the diaspora. Cuban youths at nudist beaches in Miami have also generated viral videos comparing that experience with the customs of the island, confirming that the cultural clash between European or American naturism and Cuban idiosyncrasy is an endless source of humor on social media.
