A video lasting just 11 seconds, published on TikTok from the account of Mely Barrera, wife of Cuban singer Dayrán Perdomo, sparked a wave of criticism on social media after showcasing a prank the artist played on her, which many users deemed dangerous and disrespectful.
The clip, tagged with Dayrán's profile, amassed nearly 800,000 views, over 9,300 likes, and 584 comments, reflecting the reach of the post among his followers.
Reactions were divided, but the critical voices were the most forceful. Several users did not hesitate to point out that this kind of humor is tasteless and borders on abuse. "What bad-taste games," one wrote. Another was more direct: "I hate abuse."
Some comments pointed directly to respect within the couple's relationship. "Making fun of a woman with a cruel joke seems to me to show a lack of respect, without a doubt," wrote one user, while another added: "Neither funny nor respectful towards women, no matter what."
There were those who also questioned the state in which Dayrán supposedly recorded the moment: "According to him, it's funny with his drinks in him," another comment joked.
But perhaps the most shocking reaction was from a user who shared her own experience: "That's exactly what happened to me, and I fractured my fibula and had a displacement of my tibia, and now my foot is no longer the same. This is no joke; thank God it didn't lead to anything worse."
Not everyone reacted with outrage. Several followers responded with laughing emojis. But undoubtedly, the majority disapproved of the joke...
Dayrán Perdomo is a Cuban urban music singer who resides in Florida and gained notoriety as the vocalist for the group Los 4, from which he separated in October 2019. Since then, he has been pursuing a solo career.
In December 2024, following his separation from Lilianne Acosta, known as "La Peky," Dayrán publicly introduced Mely Barrera as his new partner. She is a Cuban nurse and has an active TikTok account where she shares content about couple’s life and humor.
The relationship progressed quickly: in February 2025, the couple announced that they had gotten married in an intimate ceremony in Las Vegas, surprising their followers.
The video reignited the debate about the limits of humor in relationships, with many users recalling that this type of joke can have real physical consequences.
