A Cuban emigrant named Daniela shared a video on TikTok on July 2 that touched the hearts of thousands of people in just a few days: her return to Cuba and the reunion with her family, a hug filled with years of distance and everything that emigration takes away.

The one-minute clip is accompanied by the song "Yo Volveré" by El Uniko and Angel El White, the lyrics of which seem to be written for moments exactly like this: "In my heart, there were so many things I left behind that I can't forget, especially my friends, my first love, my dreams that I left behind; there were so many good and bad moments that I won't forget."

The comments section turned into a small river of emotions. One follower wrote, "Girl, you made me cry." Another user, Eli, couldn't hold back: "Ayyy my girl, you've made me cry, I’m so happy for you."

The video has garnered thousands of views and likes, numbers that do not fully capture the emotional weight of what it displays, because there are reactions that cannot be measured in statistics: the emojis of hearts and crying faces that flooded the post speak of an entire community that sees itself in that scene.

This reunion is part of a growing trend on TikTok, where hundreds of emigrated Cubans document their returns to the island after years of separation. Other similar videos have reached much higher numbers — such as Yali's, which nearly hit 710,000 views after returning after four years and two months — but all share the same core: the human cost of a mass emigration that has taken more than a million Cubans out of the island since 2021, fracturing families and entire communities.
