The Cuban truck driver Francisco Camejo, 42 years old, known among his acquaintances as "Kuko," was found safe and sound this Tuesday, four days after being reported missing.

The news was shared by the journalist Javier Díaz through his Facebook account, and later confirmed on that same social network by Lianet Camejo, sister of Francisco.

Camejo had lost contact with his family and friends since the early hours of July 10, when he was participating in a group call with other truck drivers near Fontana, California, around one in the morning.

At that moment, he reported hearing a strange noise and the communication was cut off. Since then, his phone has remained off and the trailer's GPS recorded its last location in Los Angeles, with the broker unable to track the cargo from that point onward.

The family of Camejo began a desperate search that included calls to hospitals, jails, and the morgue, without obtaining any results. They filed the missing person report in California, the only state that accepted it, as Florida rejected the report due to lack of jurisdiction since the events occurred outside its territory.

Camejo was driving a gray Freightliner truck with a trailer for the company All Miami Trucking Corp. and was on a route from California to Pompano Beach in South Florida. A native of Guanabacoa, Havana, he has been living in the United States for over 11 years.

After the discovery, the family chose not to provide explanations about what happened. According to Javier Díaz, "his family does not want to offer any more details about the incident at the moment, but what’s important is that both he and the cargo were unharmed."

The case arises in a context of increasing concern among the community of Cuban truck drivers in the United States. In April 2026, the Cuban truck driver Alejandro Jacomino González, 41 years old, disappeared while transporting luxury vehicles from the port of Brunswick, Georgia, to Miami.

The FBI confirmed the discovery of his lifeless body in a coastal area of Georgia on April 29, with the investigation still open.

In May, the Cuban truck driver Marcelo H. Corvalán was found alive in a hospital in Orlando after being missing for more than 48 hours while transporting Amazon goods. The driver did not remember what had happened, and authorities could not determine whether he suffered a medical emergency or was a victim of an assault.

The discovery of Camejo alive represents a relief for his family and for the Cuban community, which in the preceding months lived in anguish over the tragic outcome of the Jacomino González case.
