The FBI is seeking public assistance to identify a man who robbed a Wells Fargo branch in Miami Lakes on Monday morning, according to Telemundo 51.
The incident occurred around 9:25 a.m. on Monday at the branch located at 15615 NW 67th Ave., when the suspect entered the establishment and demanded money from one of the employees.
The authorities have not disclosed the amount of cash stolen, although they confirmed that there were no injuries during the robbery.
The FBI released four images captured by the bank's surveillance cameras, showing a man dressed entirely in dark clothing: a hooded sweatshirt, pants, shoes, and a backpack of the same color.
The suspect remains unidentified and at liberty at the close of this edition. The case is under joint investigation by the FBI, the Miami-Dade County Sheriff's Office, and the Violent Crime and Fugitives Task Force of South Florida.
This robbery occurs against a backdrop of heightened banking criminal activity in South Florida over the past few weeks, with multiple heists reported at Wells Fargo branches in Hallandale Beach, Pembroke Pines, Plantation, and Davie, as well as a failed attempt at a Chase Bank in Miami.
This Wednesday, authorities arrested Kevin Anthony Heslop, a 38-year-old resident of Miami, following a police chase that ended in a crash in Miami Gardens. Heslop faces federal charges for allegedly being responsible for more than seven robberies or attempted robberies in the metropolitan area over the past month and a half, although authorities clarified that he is not connected to the Miami Lakes case.
It's not the first time that the FBI has turned to the public to solve bank robberies in Miami-Dade. In November 2024, the agency sought two suspects for bank robberies in the county, following the same procedure of releasing surveillance images to gather citizen tips.
