Mauro Menéndez, the firstborn of Cuban actress Aylín Mujica and musician Osamu Menéndez, passed away this Thursday in Barbados at the age of 30, according to a report by journalist Mandy Fridmann, who is in charge of the portal Las Top News.

Osamu Menéndez confirmed the death of his son on Facebook with a heartbreaking message: "Forgive me, I cannot speak, my son Mauro passed away last night and I am devastated. I am on the plane to retrieve his body. I love you all and appreciate your messages of condolence."

According to Fridmann, Mauro had traveled to attend a baseball game in Barbados, despite his mother asking him not to do so because the young man was suffering from pneumonia.

"However, it was the same. Last night, Aylín Mujica received a call with the news that no mother wants to hear: her son had passed away. Although further details are not known, everything suggests that he may have suffered a heart attack," the journalist explained.

Aylín Mujica was filming a show in Colombia when she received the news. The actress, according to Fridmann, is "devastated." At the time of this publication, she had not made a statement on her social media.

The cause of death has not been officially confirmed.

Mauro was known in the world of electronic music as DJ Maahez, a name under which he built an international career since 2014 as a producer and DJ, a pioneer of the Global Bass and Moombahton movement.

Among his achievements are collaborations with figures such as Diplo, DJ Snake, Tiësto, Afrojack, and Steve Aoki, as well as a nomination for the 2020 Latin Grammy. In the months leading up to his death, he released the singles "Magia," "U got me," and "Muzeek."

Mauro's passing represents a second devastating blow for Osamu Menéndez in less than four months.

In March 2026, the Cuban musician had already bid farewell to Diana Díaz Olivera, the mother of his daughter Adri, with whom he shared an emotional message on social media.

Mauro was the eldest of Aylín Mujica's three children, who is also the mother of Alejandro, the result of her relationship with Alejandro Gaviria, and Violeta Valenzuela, born from her connection with Gabriel Valenzuela.
