A Cuban woman who identifies herself on TikTok as Eli, from the account @amor50oficial, went viral on July 17 by posting a video in which she answers the question that her followers ask her the most: why she exposes her marriage to a man 30 years older than herself.
The clip, lasting one minute and 23 seconds, accumulated nearly 966,000 views, 43,600 "likes," over 4,400 comments, and 9,356 shares in just a few days, making it one of the most commented videos of the Cuban community on that platform.
"I am married to a man thirty years older than me, and one of the questions I get asked the most is why I expose our relationship so much. The answer will always be: why should I hide something that makes me happy?" the woman says at the beginning of the video.
Far from avoiding criticism, she confronts it with a reflection on the social discomfort surrounding others' happiness: "We live in a world where showing joy seems to bother some people, as if happiness should be experienced quietly so as not to disturb anyone."
For her, the age difference does not define the relationship. "Many only see the years between us, but I see the man who came to show me that often love is not as you imagine it, but as you need it," she asserts.

In May 2026, Aniadys defended her marriage with a 15-year age difference arguing that "a relationship isn't based on age." And in January 2026, a 40-year-old Cuban humorously responded to criticism for dating a man 14 years younger than she is.
Comments on these videos often divide between those who support the relationship and those who question it, sometimes insinuating economic or immigration motives, turning each post into a reflection of broader tensions regarding gender roles, marriage, and the exposure of private life on social media.
Eli closed her video with a phrase that summarizes her position: "I will continue to celebrate the person who showed me that love doesn't need to be perfect, it just needs to be real."
