At 8:00 PM, local Cuban time, concludes its session this Thursday, July 23, 2026, with a slight decline in the dollar and stability in the euro.
The MLC, for its part, shows a decline compared to the previous session, although its quotation should be taken as indicative given the low trading volume that this currency typically records.
The United States dollar closes the day with an average value of 670 Cuban pesos (CUP), with a buy price of 665 CUP and a sale price of 675 CUP.
This represents a decrease of 1 peso compared to the previous day, when it was at 671 CUP. In weekly perspective, the greenback has gained 15 pesos from the average of 655 CUP seven days ago, which is an increase of 2.3%.
Exchange Rate Evolution
The 30-day comparison shows a decrease of 25 pesos from the 695 CUP reported previously, although this figure may partly reflect adjustments in the methodology of the index and not just market movements.
In the past month, the dollar has fluctuated between a low of 610 CUP and a high of 695 CUP in the informal market.
The demand for dollars remains high among those looking to protect their savings against the depreciation of the peso.
The euro closes with no variations compared to the previous day, with an average value of 778 Cuban pesos (CUP), buying at 770 CUP and selling at 786 CUP.
The variation compared to yesterday is practically negligible, at just 0.5 pesos, which reinforces its stability at the close of this session.
On a weekly basis, however, the European currency has gained 23 pesos since the 755 CUP recorded seven days ago, representing a 3% increase. In the past month, the euro reached a high of 796 CUP and a low of 688 CUP. It surpasses the dollar by 108 pesos, consolidating its dominant position in the Cuban parallel market.
The MLC closes with a reference average value of 473 Cuban pesos (CUP), with a buying rate of 460 CUP and a selling rate of 485 CUP. This figure should be taken with caution, as the closing range records few data points for this currency.
Regarding the previous session, the MLC has decreased by 6.5 pesos, a drop of 1.4%. However, on a weekly basis, it has accumulated an increase of 27.5 pesos from the 445 CUP recorded seven days ago, representing a rise of 6.2%. Without physical existence, its use is limited to state-run establishments that accept it, which restricts its circulation compared to cash currencies.
- Exchange rate from USD to CUP: 670 CUP.
- Exchange rate of the euro EUR to CUP: 778 CUP.
- Exchange rate from MLC to CUP: 473 CUP (indicative value).
The official exchange rate of the Central Bank of Cuba (Segment III), at 596 CUP per dollar and 680 CUP per euro, remains well below the values that govern daily practices in the informal currency market.
Although Segment III was introduced as a more flexible exchange mechanism, its official rate remains far from that of the informal market and fails to meet the actual demand for foreign currency among the population.
The gap between the official and informal rates reflects the persistent shortage of foreign currency in the state banking system and the high demand for dollars and euros by the population, whether for emigration, importing goods, protecting savings, or making purchases in the private sector.
In a scenario of sustained inflation, low state salaries, and increasing partial dollarization of the economy, every fluctuation in the informal market directly impacts internal prices and the purchasing power of Cubans.
The CiberCuba Exchange Rate is an index of the informal Cuban market developed through automated analysis of thousands of currency trading posts in Telegram and Facebook groups.
The calculation eliminates atypical offers and spam messages, weighs each transaction according to its age, and consolidates a representative value that is updated several times a day.
