opens this Sunday with an apparent pause, but without erasing the significant increases accumulated over the past week.

The dollar remains at 674 Cuban pesos (CUP) and the euro at 785 CUP. The MLC, on the other hand, rises slightly to 479 CUP.

This is how the exchange rates stand in Cuba

  • Dollar: 674 CUP
  • Euro: 785 CUP
  • MLC: 479 CUP

The dollar stabilizes, but gains nine pesos in a week

The US dollar has an average rate of 674 CUP, with purchase offers at 670 and selling offers at 677 pesos.

Exchange Rate Evolution

Although it remains unchanged compared to the previous day, it was trading at 665 CUP seven days ago. This represents a weekly increase of nine pesos, equivalent to 1.3%.

Thirty days ago, its value was 653 CUP, although this comparison should be taken with caution as it may include adjustments in the index methodology.

During the last month, the dollar reached a high of 675 CUP and a low of 610 CUP, reflecting the volatility that continues to characterize the informal market.

The euro remains at its highest levels

On its part, the euro opens at 785 CUP, with a purchase rate of 780 and a selling rate of 790 pesos.

Its variation compared to Saturday is practically negligible, but over the course of a week, it has accumulated an increase of 20 CUP. Last Sunday, it was valued at 765 pesos.

The European currency has gained 2.6% in seven days and remains at its highest level in the last 30 days. During that period, it fell as low as 688 CUP.

Currently, the euro is valued at 111 pesos more than the dollar.

The MLC registers the largest weekly increase

The MLC is approximately set at 479 CUP, with a buying price of 458 and a selling price of 499 pesos.

Its value increases by six pesos compared to the previous day, a rise of 1.3%. Compared to last week, it has accumulated an increase of 23.5 CUP, which is equivalent to 5.2%.

However, this quotation should be interpreted with caution due to the limited number of transactions supporting it during this time period.

The official rate remains well below

The Central Bank of Cuba sets the official rate for Segment III this Sunday at 601 CUP per dollar and 684 CUP per euro.

The difference compared to the informal market exceeds 73 pesos in the case of the dollar and is around 101 pesos for the euro.

Although Segment III was introduced as a more flexible currency mechanism, its rate remains far from the values that prevail in everyday operations.

Thirty days ago, the official dollar was at 585 CUP. Since then, it has risen to 601, but the increase has not closed the gap with the parallel market.

A pause that does not ease the cost of living

The stability seen this Sunday does not mean that the currencies have lost strength. In just seven days, the dollar has risen by nine pesos and the euro by twenty.

In a scenario marked by inflation, low wages, and the increasing dollarization of the economy, these movements ultimately translate into higher prices and further reduce the purchasing power of Cubans.
