At 8:00 PM, local Cuban time, closes this Saturday, July 25, with no changes in its main references.

The US dollar concludes the day at 674 Cuban pesos, the same value recorded yesterday, while the euro closes stable at 785 pesos. The MLC, with few data available at this time, is roughly positioned around 480 pesos, showing a slight increase compared to the previous session, which should be taken with caution.

The U.S. dollar is quoted at 674 Cuban pesos (CUP) at the close of this Saturday. It remains unchanged compared to the previous day, reinforcing a stability that, however, does not hide the upward trend of the week: seven days ago, the dollar was quoted at 664 pesos, which represents an increase of 10 pesos during this period, equivalent to a rise of 1.5%.

In the monthly outlook, the exchange rate has climbed 14 pesos from 660 CUP 30 days ago, although this comparison may partly reflect adjustments in the method used for the index.

In the last 30 days, the dollar has reached a high of 675 pesos and a low of 610 pesos. It continues to set the tone for the informal market amid a context of structural foreign currency shortages.

The euro closes the day at 785 Cuban pesos (CUP), unchanged from the previous session. Despite the calm of the last 24 hours, the European currency has made a notable gain over the week: seven days ago it was exchanging at 765 pesos, which represents an increase of 20 pesos, a 2.6% more.

In the past month, the euro has risen by 30 pesos from the 755 CUP recorded 30 days ago —a 4% increase, although with the same caution applied to the monthly comparison—.

The maximum of the last 30 days is precisely at the current 785 pesos, matching its highest level during this period. It asserts itself as the most expensive currency in the Cuban parallel market, surpassing the dollar by 111 pesos.

The MLC closes with an indicative value of 480 Cuban pesos (CUP), as the available data in this range is scarce. This represents an increase of 10 pesos compared to the previous day, according to the data from the last session.

In the last week, the MLC has increased by 50 pesos from the 430 CUP recorded seven days ago, a rise of 11.6% that, nevertheless, should be interpreted with caution due to the limited availability of recorded transactions.

In the last 30 days, its price has fluctuated between a minimum of 399 and a maximum of 543 pesos. Without physical existence, its use is limited to state-run businesses that accept it, restricting its circulation compared to cash currencies.

  • Exchange rate of the dollar USD to CUP: 674 CUP.
  • Exchange rate of the euro EUR to CUP: 785 CUP.
  • Exchange rate from MLC to CUP: 480 CUP (indicative value, few data available).

The official exchange rate of the Central Bank of Cuba (Segment III) is 601 CUP per dollar and 684 CUP per euro, which remains well below the values that prevail in daily practice in the informal currency market.

Although Segment III was introduced as a more flexible exchange mechanism, its official rate remains far from that of the informal market and fails to meet the actual demand for foreign currency among the population.

The gap between the official and informal rates reflects the persistent shortage of foreign currency in the state banking system and the high demand for dollars and euros among the population, whether for emigration, importing goods, protecting savings, or making purchases in the private sector.

In a scenario of sustained inflation, low state wages, and increasing partial dollarization of the economy, every fluctuation in the informal market directly impacts internal prices and the purchasing power of Cubans.

The Exchange Rate of CiberCuba is an index of the informal Cuban market created from automated analysis of thousands of currency buying and selling posts in Telegram and Facebook groups. The calculation disregards atypical offers and spam messages, weighs each transaction based on its age, and consolidates a representative value that is updated multiple times a day.
