The balance confirms a relatively calm day for the greenback, which has seen weeks of sustained gains, while the euro cedes part of the ground it gained in recent days.
The U.S. dollar closes at 673 Cuban pesos (CUP) on average, with a buying rate of 670 CUP and a selling rate of 675 CUP. It remains unchanged compared to the previous day, consolidating its position after the gains seen in recent days. On a weekly basis, the exchange rate increases by five pesos from the 668 CUP recorded seven days ago.
The 30-day comparison places the dollar at 610 CUP as a starting point, although it's advisable to take this figure with caution, as it may partially reflect methodological adjustments of the index. Over the past month, the greenback has fluctuated between a minimum of 610 CUP and a maximum of 675 CUP. It continues to gauge the pulse of the informal market in a context of structural currency shortages.
Exchange Rate Evolution
The euro closes at 785 CUP in average value, with a buying rate of 780 CUP and a selling rate of 790 CUP. This represents a decline of five pesos compared to the previous day, when the exchange rate was at 790 CUP according to data from the last session. Despite the setback, the European currency maintains its advantage over the dollar and has increased by ten pesos from 775 CUP a week ago. Over the last month, the euro has reached a high of 790 CUP and a low of 689 CUP. It establishes itself as the most expensive currency in the Cuban parallel market, surpassing the dollar by 112 pesos.
The MLC closes at around 473 Cuban pesos (CUP) on average, with a buying rate of 438 CUP and a selling rate of 508 CUP. This figure should be considered as a guideline, given the low volume of transactions that support it during this time frame. Compared to the previous day, it shows a slight increase of two pesos. In the last week, it has risen by 3.5 pesos from the 470 CUP recorded seven days ago. Without physical existence, its use is limited to the state-run stores that accept it, which restricts its circulation compared to cash currencies.

The gap between the official dollar rate (601 CUP) and the informal rate (673 CUP) exceeds 70 pesos, while in the case of the euro, the difference between the official rate of 684 CUP and the parallel market rate of 785 CUP is nearly 100 pesos.
