The content creator Yordania Orduñez published a video on Facebook that went viral by showing the bread that arrived at her town's store after five days without supply.
The bread roll is tiny, with a moldy appearance and a texture that seems to be decomposing.
"After four or five days without electricity, they brought the bread to the store. I'm not going to say much about this, you all know," Orduñez says at the beginning of the video, while displaying the product in front of the camera.
The question posed to her followers sums up the outrage: "Do you think it is fair for this bread to be given to the population?"
The Cuban doesn't stop there. She opens the bread to show the dough inside and says, "Look at that dough inside. We can't take it anymore, sir, this is disrespectful; it looks like it has mold."
The post garnered reactions and comments from Cubans both on and off the island, agreeing that the product was inedible.
"That's a ball of mud, not bread. How disrespectful, and it's for the population," wrote one user. Another was more direct: "I wouldn't buy it no matter how hungry I am, not even for the pigs is it worth." A third pointed out: "It's full of mold."
One of the harshest comments summed up the situation like this: "We are already animals, and the administrator acknowledged that. What a lack of respect for the people."
A comment revealed that the bread shortage is not exclusive to that municipality: "They haven't had bread here for five months."
The crisis of regulated bread, a symptom of a greater collapse
In Villa Clara, since February 2026, the regulated bread has been restricted solely to those under 13 and over 65 years old, due to the energy crisis and fuel shortages.
In Guantánamo, flour was reported to be transported by mules and bread baked with firewood. In Santiago de Cuba, residents reported bread with a greenish color due to mold, a sour smell, and a decomposed texture.
The energy crisis is directly exacerbating the problems in bread production. Blackouts are bringing mills and bakeries to a standstill. The regime admitted in June 2026 that the regulated basket had not distributed oil, chicken, or soy yogurt so far this year.
