José Daniel Ferrer to military personnel and police: "The end of communism in Cuba is near."

José Daniel Ferrer García, leader of the Unión Patriótica de Cuba (UNPACU), issued a message this Wednesday to members of the Ministry of the Interior (MININT), the Armed Forces (FAR), and those who support the "Castro-communist tyranny," warning them that the end of communism in Cuba is approaching and those who take too long to switch sides will face the consequences.

“The end of communism in Cuba is approaching. If you take too long to align yourself with the right side of history, the fall of the dictatorship will catch you on the wrong side, and that will have bad consequences for you. Many of your colleagues are already collaborating with the anti-communist opposition and even with the CIA. Hurry, time is running out,” wrote Ferrer on his Facebook account.

This is not the first time that the dissident, exiled in Miami since October 2025, has pointed directly at the regime's security apparatus. Since his arrival in exile, Ferrer has launched a sustained campaign challenging Cuban military and police, with messages that have intensified as the crisis on the island deepens.

The claim that some uniformed officials are already collaborating with the opposition and the CIA is one of the strongest statements the opposition leader has made to date.

His words arrive at a time of intense internal tension in Cuba. On the night of Tuesday  protests erupted in various municipalities, including Marianao, La Lisa, El Cerro, San José de Mayabeque, and Santiago de Cuba, with pot-banging and shouts of "Freedom" and "Down with the dictatorship."

In January 2026, Ferrer released an open letter to the commanders and troops of the FAR and the MININT urging them to promote political change and cease being instruments of repression, citing the capture of Nicolás Maduro as a warning.

In May, following a bellicose message from the MINFAR, Ferrer responded by comparing the regime's rhetoric to that of Nicolás Maduro, and issued an ultimatum: "The only solution for Cuba is the end of the tyranny, and if they don't leave peacefully, they will have to leave forcefully."
