Taty Guiribitey (Mami Lover) and her daughter Camila Guiribitey broke their silence and shared their version of events on Alexander Otaola's show, days after the Cuban YouTuber Adrián Peachy publicly revealed a phone call that the influencers made to him in June.
The connection was made remotely: Camila participated from London and Taty from Madrid. It was the first time the Guiribitey spoke openly about the episode, something that the host himself gratefully acknowledged with surprise.
The origin of the dispute dates back to June 13, when Peachy posted a video on YouTube in which, according to the influencers, he took sides against them. The following day, Taty and Camila reached out to him through a mutual friend during a call that lasted approximately 50 minutes.
Camila was straightforward in explaining the purpose of that contact: "I believe the conversation was taken completely out of context. The call was prompted by a video he had posted, and we felt that he had been biased. We managed to arrange the call through a mutual friend and we called him with the full intention of giving him the opportunity to get to know us."
One of the most sensitive points in Peachy's account was his mention of the migration situation, which he interpreted as an implicit threat. The Guiribitey firmly rejected that interpretation. "Mom told him that we wanted him to get to know us, to give himself the opportunity to know us. We told him that we had met with our lawyers, but before going to our lawyers, we knew his migration situation, which is not regular; he is in the process. And we didn't want him to face even a fine for crossing the street improperly. That was not our intention," Camila said, emphasizing that the intention was to express concern for him, not to pressure him.
Otaola summarized the tension from the misunderstanding with a direct question: "He felt that the mention of his immigration status was a threat, but you were discussing it in a warning manner." The Guiribitey confirmed this and expressed that they hoped Peachy would receive it as a gesture of empathy.
Regarding the episode of the so-called "brochures"—fashion materials that Peachy interpreted as an attempt at a purchase—Camila clarified that she simply offered fashion catalogs for Peachy to use in her trend videos, recalling her own beginnings as a content creator.
Camila also denied having asked for the Peachy video to be removed. "Don't delete the video, that's your job, that's your money, don't delete it, don't delete it, don't delete it. I never asked him to delete the video," she stated. What they did request was to moderate the comments: "We asked him if he could please lower the comments because people were being very hurtful."
According to Camila's account, during the call, Peachy himself admitted to being biased and offered to record a third video to clarify things. She declined the proposal: "I'm not asking you to make a third video; I'm asking you to give yourself the chance to get to know me."
Otaola, who introduced himself as someone who knows the Guiribitey well, supported their version from the beginning: "I know you all, and I know that you are not the kind of people to threaten anyone."
Peachy, for his part, declared in his video that he received the call as a form of pressure: "I perceived it as a threat, the fact that you called me to inform me that you know several politicians like María Elvira Salazar, Marco Rubio, and that getting along with you could bring me more benefits than not getting along." The YouTuber also emphasized that the mention of his immigration situation reminded him of the silencing tactics he experienced in Cuba, and concluded with a powerful statement: "I didn't stay silent in Cuba, and here I'm not going to be silenced."
