The Cuban singer Candyman experienced a major scare on Tuesday when the vehicle he was traveling in collided while he was live-streaming a video for his followers on Instagram, capturing the entire moment on the broadcast.
According to the post that reported the incident, the artist —whose real name is Rubén Cuesta Palomo— was singing in front of the camera when the crash occurred. The images show that at least two vehicles were involved in the collision.
The photographs of the scene show a gray SUV with severe damage to the front, stopped in the median of what appears to be an interstate highway. An ambulance identified as "Gretna Rescue" is present at the scene. Emergency services responded to the location.
Despite the dramatic crash, Candyman reappeared before the camera with his characteristic good humor. "I'm fine, family, I'm not dead," he said with a smile, getting out of the car laughing and singing.
The artist's attitude towards the situation did not go unnoticed on social media, where the video spread quickly. One account that reposted the moment described it like this: "The Samurai Candyman suffers an accident during the live stream, but he remains very professional until the end. Fortunately, he is fine and nothing happened."
Candyman, originally from Santiago de Cuba, is regarded as one of the pioneers of reggaeton on the island. He was one of the first artists from the island to incorporate influences from Jamaican dancehall and ragga into his music.
The incident adds to a list of accidents that have affected figures in Cuban urban music in recent years. The singer Nesty also suffered a serious accident in January 2025, and in 2021, Chocolate MC was urgently hospitalized after a serious traffic accident.
This year, Candyman has also made headlines for other reasons: a documentary about his origins and Cuban reguetón gained international recognition last month, solidifying his status as a historical figure of the genre on the island.
The artist demonstrated once again that their connection with the audience remains unbroken even in the face of the most unexpected surprises.
