The Cuban singer and influencer Mary Rosales Martínez fulfilled one of her great dreams: leaving Cuba for the first time in her life. The young woman, who has 667 thousand followers on Instagram, shared everything with her fans in an emotional video posted on her social media titled "We left Cuba."
The flight took off at dawn, with nerves running high. "This is the first time we were going to board such a large plane. Obviously, the nerves were on edge. At that moment, two hundred thousand thoughts race through your mind, which is better not to think about," Mary said in the clip, which garnered over 20,000 views on TikTok in just a few hours.
After two hours of flight, Mary’s first stop was Panama, although it was not her final destination. And the airport blew her mind. "Look at me, I felt like a completely overwhelmed person when I arrived at that airport in Panama. What a display of lights! And don’t even get me started on the sheer number of products and things I had never seen in my life. It was like being in the shopping malls from the movies," she described with her usual candor.
What won her over the most, however, was something much simpler: the chocolates. "Sir, the part I liked the most was the amount of chocolates and thousands of things I had never tried," she confessed with laughter.
What makes Mary’s story especially poignant is the starting point she outlines. “Since I was little, I’ve always heard, ‘Listen, did you see who went abroad? Listen, so-and-so went to Yuma. Did you see who arrived there?’ And who would have thought that after all this time hearing that, today we became the spectators?” she reflected, encapsulating in just a few words an experience that resonates with thousands of Cubans.
Mary Martínez became well-known in February 2025 for a charitable act that went viral when she invited a 74-year-old woman to lunch in Havana. Months later, in June 2025, she won the musical challenge by Oniel Bebeshito alongside El Kilate, which opened the doors for her in the Cuban music industry with the song "No Creo."
Panama was just a stopover. At noon on the same day, another flight departed for the final destination, which the singer kept as a secret to maintain suspense among her followers. "Stay tuned to see where we ended up," she promised, leaving everyone in suspense.
