Teresa Padrón, former manager and close friend of El Taiger, shared an emotional video on Instagram of the renovated chapel in the Colón Cemetery in Havana, where the remains of the Cuban reggaeton artist, his mother, and now also his grandmother are laid to rest.
The chapel looks freshly painted and has a new roof. "Today my heart is filled with joy to see the chapel, where you rest alongside your mom and now also your grandmother, looking beautiful once again. Newly painted, with its new roof, and cared for with the love and respect that you all deserve," Padrón wrote in the post.
The renewal has a special meaning: the artist's grandmother, Magda Nidia Reyes Macías, passed away on June 22, 2026 in Cuba, and her remains were added to the same family chapel.
Teresa did not hold back in expressing the significance that place has for her: "For many, it may just be a chapel, but for me, it is so much more. It is a place that I will always strive to keep dignified, beautiful, and full of love."
It was Padrón who managed the transfer of El Taiger's remains to Cuba and acquired the chapel in the Cristóbal Colón Necropolis, where the artist rests alongside his mother since December 2024.
This month, in addition to the chapel in Havana, Teresa also refreshed the memorial outside Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami with flowers, white balloons, and other symbolic elements, keeping the artist's memory alive on both sides of the sea.
The post concluded with the signature that Teresa repeats every month without fail: "Today, the 10th, once again: mission accomplished. ALWAYS JOSÉ," and the unrelenting call: "JUSTICE FOR JOSÉ MANUEL CARVAJAL ZALDÍVAR."
El Taiger passed away on October 10, 2024, in Miami at the age of 37, after being shot in the head. His departure shocked the Cuban community both on and off the island, and Teresa Padrón has taken it upon herself to ensure that neither his name nor his family is forgotten.
