Teresa Padrón said goodbye to Nidia Reyes Macías, grandmother of the Cuban reggaeton artist El Taiger, with a message that broke the hearts of those who have closely followed this story of loss and unconditional love.

Nidia passed away on Monday morning in Cuba, as confirmed by the family through the artist's Instagram profile: "With deep sadness, we share the physical departure of our beloved grandmother, Magda Nidia Reyes Macías."

Teresa posted a video on her Instagram stories of the two of them together—Nidia, very thin, sitting across from her—and wrote some words that encapsulate nearly two years of companionship: "Today I say goodbye to you with a broken heart but knowing that you are finally with your daughter and your grandson, and that gives me comfort. I will miss you and carry you with me for whatever time I have left in this life. You were an incredible person!"

That reference to the daughter and grandson is not coincidental. Nidia survived a chain of devastating losses: her daughter Magda Zaldívar, mother of El Taiger, died in September 2020, and the artist's father passed away just days later, during that same week of mourning.

Then, in October 2024, El Taiger was shot in Hialeah and died at the age of 37 at the Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. The family summarized it with a phrase that circulated widely: "Now you are reunited with your loved ones and with your grandson, whom you loved so much. Rest in peace, grandmother."

Teresa, the artist's former manager, became a support link for Nidia after his death. She visited her frequently in Cuba.

During each visit, Nidia left phrases that became etched in memory. In October 2025, through tears, she said to Teresa, "I miss my daughter the most... they take good care of me, but sometimes...". And Teresa then wrote, "Seeing her, hugging her, listening to her reminds me that life is short and sometimes too hard, but also that true love never dies."

The last great public gesture from Teresa toward Nidia occurred in March 2026, when she inaugurated the LBMA Café in the very home of the elderly woman in Havana, as a tribute to the artist's legacy.

Teresa also announced the details of the farewell on Instagram: "We will be at the chapel to lay Nidia's remains to rest today, Tuesday, at 11 a.m. Anyone who knew her and wishes to join us is welcome. Thank you very much for all the messages filled with love and affection. Blessings to all."
