The Cuban influencer La Dura (Diliamne Jouve González) closed the chapter on the theft of her luggage with a message that was as honest as it was resigned: she recovered nothing, her lawyers told her that filing a claim would be futile, and she is already focused on her birthday.
Weeks after reporting the theft of a Chanel bag, a Louis Vuitton vanity case, and gold items with diamonds from her checked luggage, the content creator responded through her Instagram Stories to the hundreds of followers who were asking if she had recovered anything.
The response was a resounding no: "Everything stopped there. Nothing has come up, and I feel it won't."
La Dura revealed that she did attempt to explore legal options: "In fact, I spoke with my lawyers about filing a claim, and they told me it would be a waste of time because I won’t recover anything."
Far from getting bitter, the influencer chose optimism with her usual flair: “But it’s all good, better things will come.”
She also took the opportunity to share that she isn't the only one who has experienced something like this: "I received many messages from people who had gone through the same thing. It's inevitable. You never think it will happen to you."
The theft was discovered in early August when La Dura returned to Miami after her vacation in Greece with her partner Jorge Carlos Pajón and, upon unpacking, found several missing luxury items.
The original post sparked a flood of similar testimonies among its followers: one user recounted that in June she experienced the same thing while traveling to Cancun with the same airline; another reported that her headphones, makeup, and perfume were stolen from a cabin bag that the employees forced her to check; and a third case involved the theft of daily prescription medication.
But if there’s one thing La Dura is clear about, it’s that she doesn’t intend to wallow in her loss.
With her birthday just around the corner —she turns 33 on August 30— she is fully in planning mode: "Now I'm looking for where I'm going to celebrate my birthday. I like to be surrounded by turquoise waters on my birthday."
The only requirement he sets is not to stray too far, because he wants to take his daughter and not complicate the start of the school year: "I don't want to go too far for the girl and the school, because I want to take her with me."
So while she looks for a destination and new clothes for the occasion, La Dura closes the chapter on her luggage with the same energy with which she reappeared on social media after her return from Greece: moving forward and not looking back.
