It all started in mid-July when Ivy Queen shared a photo on Instagram embracing Don Omar in the backstage of the Cook Music Festival in Tenerife, Spain, with the caption "King & Queen There are things that will never change Kong @donomar." The image surpassed 185,000 likes, including one from Karol G.
At the end of July, she posted a text on TikTok in which she explains her special relationship with the performer of "Pobre Diabla." "One day I woke up and saw how the internet was flooded with images of Will. I jumped out of bed looking for my phone nervously... after his call, I promised myself that I would never have to hide from someone how much you care about them. Especially how much you care about them being healthy," wrote the singer, recalling one of the hardest episodes for her friend, when he was diagnosed with cancer.
And then came the phrase that received all the applause: "Some people don't understand that you can be friends with a man without any ulterior motives. The bogeyman of my exes is Will. I will continue to embrace and honor our existence."
The word "cuco" —equivalent to "terror" or "the boogeyman"— sparked its own debate in the comments. While some asked, "What does cuco mean?", others perfectly summed it up: "The terror... the same boogeyman."
Don Omar, whose full name is William Omar Landrón Rivera, did not fall behind. In the original Instagram post, he responded with a statement that melted his followers' hearts: "The love I feel for you is pure, real, and sincere. I love you." The comment garnered over 8,400 likes. Farruko also joined in: "You broke it, master. God bless you, it was great to see you."
The reunion took place at the Cook Music Festival in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where Don Omar returned to the island after 22 years of absence. The festival attracted around 60,000 attendees on its first day, featuring a lineup that also included Myke Towers and Farruko.
The friendship between both artists dates back a long time: in 2017, when they released "Ámame o mátame" together, they publicly clarified that their relationship was one of friendship and collaboration, not romantic.
