The baseball player Randy Arozarena, a Cuban nationalized Mexican, connected this Sunday for his 17th home run of the 2026 season with the Seattle Mariners, continuing on track toward what would be his sixth consecutive season with at least 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases, a milestone that the Cuban has made a staple of his career.

The gardener, known as "Mr. October," showcases one of the most complete seasons of his career in Major League Baseball in 2026, with an offensive line of .276/.369/.469 and an OPS of .827.

This record places him, according to data from analyst Francys Romero, as the Latin outfielder with the highest OPS in all of MLB during the current season.

But perhaps the most revealing statistic of his evolution in 2026 is another: Arozarena has the lowest strikeout percentage of his entire career, which adds discipline and contact to a combination of power and speed that was already his trademark.

The Cuban's 20-20 streak began in 2021 and has not been interrupted: 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases that year, 20 and 32 in 2022, 23 and 22 in 2023, 20 and 20 in 2024, and his personal best in 2025, with 27 home runs and 31 stolen bases.

With five consecutive seasons of completing the 20-20, Arozarena joined a select group of only 10 players in MLB history with such consistency, including Barry Bonds, Bobby Abreu, Carlos Beltrán, Alfonso Soriano, and Alex Rodríguez.

In 2026, the Cuban was also selected for the American League All-Star Game, marking his third All-Star Game appearance. He was one of seven Cubans invited to the mid-season classic alongside Yordan Álvarez, Andy Pagés, Aroldis Chapman, Raisel Iglesias, Yandy Díaz, and Miguel Vargas.

At the time of that selection, having played 82 games, he was hitting .287 with 41 RBIs and an OPS of .829.

Arozarena wears number 56 with the Mariners under a one-year contract for 15.65 million dollars signed in January 2026, and he is expected to become a free agent at the end of the season.

With 17 home runs and still a calendar ahead, the 20-20 threshold is once again within reach for the Cuban outfielder, who has made this combination one of the most consistent records in modern baseball.
