Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez got married on August 11 in an intimate ceremony in Cascais, Portugal, but the question everyone is asking is not how the wedding went, but what would happen to the couple's millionaire fortune if they ever decided to separate.
The response came from the Portuguese newspaper Jornal de Notícias, which disclosed the details of the prenuptial agreement signed by the couple on August 10, just 24 hours before they said "I do": total separation of assets, notarized in Lisbon.
In simple terms, this means that what belongs to Cristiano remains Cristiano's, and what belongs to Georgina remains Georgina's.
Each person retains exclusive ownership of the assets they had before getting married and of everything they individually earn during the marriage.
Only the assets acquired together expressly would become shared ownership.
The choice is not random: according to Forbes, the fortune of the Portuguese star is around $1.2 billion, built over decades through football contracts, global sponsorships, hotels, gyms, padel clubs, clothing brands, a private jet, and a yacht.
Georgina, for her part, has an estimated net worth of over 10 million dollars, the result of her career as a model, influencer, businesswoman, and star of the series Soy Georgina on Netflix.
But the agreement doesn't end there.
According to leaked journalistic information provided to various media outlets, which neither of the two has officially confirmed, there would also be a pre-existing private agreement designed to protect Georgina in the event of a breakup.
Under that agreement, the model would receive a lifetime pension of approximately 100,000 euros per month and would become the owner of La Finca, the family mansion located in the exclusive development of Pozuelo de Alarcón, in Madrid.
The aim of this type of agreement, common among wealthy individuals, is to avoid lengthy legal disputes and ensure the stability of the children in the event that the relationship comes to an end.
The couple has five children: Cristiano Jr., twins Eva and Mateo, Alana Martina, and Bella Esmeralda, who were the only witnesses to the ceremony.
Neither of them changed their last name after the wedding, as stated in the marriage certificate, and they maintain their usual residence in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where Ronaldo plays for Al-Nassr.
The love story that led to this agreement began in 2016, when Georgina was working as a sales assistant at a Gucci boutique in Madrid and Cristiano was the big star of Real Madrid.
They met in that store and coincidentally crossed paths again days later at an event, marking the beginning of a relationship that made them one of the most talked-about couples on the planet.
Ten years after that first meeting, and with the whole family dressed in Gucci to honor that moment, Georgina explained to Vogue why they chose such an intimate ceremony: "When I was little, I dreamed of the biggest castle, the most luxurious carriage, the longest dress, a crown full of diamonds. And now I say: no, I want something intimate, with my partner and our children, at home. Because castles, houses, islands, horses, cars… we have all of that within reach every day. But something intimate… that is more unusual for us."
And although the wedding was intimate, Georgina has already hinted that a big celebration is yet to come: "In the future, we will have a grand wedding to celebrate with family and friends."
