Milenita opened the doors to her past this week, and she did so without filters or shame: the Cuban content creator posted on TikTok a tour of the wooden house where she lived from birth until adulthood, and the video became one of the most touching on social media.
In almost three minutes of recording, Milenita explores every corner of the humble home accompanied by her mom, whom she affectionately calls "Mimi." She shows the porch with new supports—the originals were falling apart—the living room with the same three armchairs, the bedroom where she slept with her mother, and the kitchen where the family cooked with charcoal.
"Today we are here in my little wooden house where I lived all my childhood and adolescence, until my early twenties, and I want to show you what my house looks like inside so you can see how it was organized," she says at the beginning of the video.
Every detail has its story. In the living room, he points to the three armchairs: "One armchair belonged to my grandfather, the other was yours, and the one in the middle was mine," he tells his mother. On the little table in that same room, he studied and did all his schoolwork. In the bedroom, he recalls fondly: "This is my bed where I slept with my mom every day, every night... and my mom was happy here, and there was a little breeze, we didn't need a fan because the air came in through the gap."
The video surpassed 443,000 views and garnered almost 23,000 likes in just a few days, triggering a wave of heartfelt comments. Many followers saw themselves in that story and shared their own childhoods in similar homes.
«To those who criticize so much, you should watch this video and understand that behind an influencer there is a story and a life that many may not know. People can talk about you, but your story speaks much louder,» wrote a follower.
Another comment that resonated was from someone who confessed to having lived similarly: "I also lived that way with my mom, but we didn't even have a television, can you imagine? But we were happy. My mom died there in the little house with me by her side and she left me my little brother, and I helped him; he's all grown up now. I miss my mom."
Even those who used to criticize her acknowledged the gesture: "I confess that sometimes she frustrates me with her antics, but if there's something to highlight, it's how humble she is. While many go to Cuba to flaunt chains and rented cars, pretending to be rich, she always goes for her family and shows how much she truly loves them." Another was more direct: "I used to criticize you, but your humility leaves me speechless."
There were some critical voices among the hundreds of supportive messages, questioning why, living in the United States, he hadn't built a concrete house for his mother. However, most of those who commented agreed on one point: "The most beautiful thing about a person is humility."
This is not the first time that Milenita has received praise for showing her family's wooden house without embellishments, although it has also sparked controversy in the past, such as when she returned to Cuba in a rental car and several users questioned the contrast with the conditions of the family home.
