A vehicle crashed on Friday afternoon into the interior of the nail salon VN Nails, located at 2520 SW 22nd Street in Miami, breaching the facade of the establishment while customers and employees were inside, according to reports from Telemundo 51.

Despite the magnitude of the impact, authorities confirmed that fortunately there were no serious injuries and no one had to be hospitalized.

The moment of impact

Miami police officers responded to the scene around 3:49 PM after receiving a report of a single-vehicle accident.

The images taken at the scene show the car stopped in the middle of the workstations of the salon, surrounded by chairs, tables, and equipment knocked over by the force of the crash.

The journalist Piter Ortega, who covered the incident for Telemundo 51, described the scene with these words:

"The image speaks for itself. A vehicle completely inside this nail salon, surrounded by chairs, tables, and equipment toppled after crashing through the entrance of the establishment."

A resident of the area who witnessed the aftermath of the accident expressed his alarm in front of the cameras:

"When I saw it, we definitely need to be more careful, not only us handling it, but also other people driving, and that can happen at any moment."

After the collision, repair teams arrived at the scene to cover the damaged entrance of the hall with boards, and the vehicle was removed from inside by a flatbed truck.

The employees' version

Workers from the salon, who preferred not to appear in front of the cameras, provided their own explanation of what happened.

According to those employees, the driver would be a frequent customer of advanced age who was preparing to park when she apparently pressed the accelerator instead of the brake.

CBS Miami specified that the woman would be around 70 years old, although that information has not been officially confirmed either.

The Miami Police clarified that this version has not been verified and that the exact circumstances that triggered the accident are still under investigation.

As of the time of the report, authorities had not announced any charges related to the incident.

A common mistake with serious consequences

Confusing the accelerator with the brake is a documented and recurring phenomenon in the United States, with consequences ranging from property damage to fatal tragedies.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimates that this type of pedal error causes around 16,000 accidents per year in the country.

Drivers over the age of 65 years are involved in this type of incident approximately four times more than other age groups, and parking maneuvers are the most common scenario for these incidents to occur.

Florida, with one of the largest elderly populations in the country, frequently reports this type of incident.

In October 2025, a rented Tesla crashed into a restaurant in Miami Beach, and weeks later, a vehicle collided with a nightclub in Tampa leaving four dead and more than a dozen injured.

The case of VN Nails, unlike those previous incidents, did not leave any significant victims, which the authorities deemed a fortunate outcome given the visible extent of the damage.
