A man was arrested following a violent incident that took place at El Tenis beach in the city of Matanzas, where two women sustained multiple injuries caused by a shard of glass from a bottle and had to be hospitalized.
The official profile Con Todos La Victoria reported this Saturday that the detainee is Ismael Valdés del Toro and stated that the incident occurred while several people were sharing alcoholic beverages, which led to a personal argument.
According to that account, the two women were attacked in the water with a "bottle neck."
One of them suffered nine wounds to the neck, abdomen, and lower back, while the second had seven injuries distributed between the chin and the neck.
Both remain hospitalized at the Provincial Hospital "Comandante Faustino Pérez," according to the report, which did not provide specific details about their clinical progress beyond stating that they sustained serious injuries.
The officialist profile claimed that Valdés del Toro was arrested at the scene. It also stated that the man resides in Havana and attributed to him a history of violent and forceful robberies, bodily injury, disorder, illegal possession of firearms, and assault.
However, NiO Reportando Un Crimen revealed a different version of how the confrontation began.
The platform, led by reporter Niover Licea, stated that it had previously received messages, photographs, and testimonies related to the incident.
A source that claimed to know details of the case stated that one of the women allegedly injured the man first and that he later reacted by using the same piece of the bottle.
Additionally, it was reported that the assailant is known by the nickname "Morumbé," while one of the women is referred to as "La Pocha," and the other was identified by the source as Lisney.
What coincides in both reports is that both women were injured, that Valdés del Toro was identified as one of those involved, and that he was arrested after the incident.
In the comments section, Roylàn Rubén Solé Oña stated that he knows the detainee and asserted that "that boy is not bad" nor does he usually seek trouble.
Although he acknowledged that what happened is "wrong" and that he does not support it, he called for a thorough investigation into what may have triggered the reaction and stated that, in his experience, this is a "very proper" person.
The new episode is particularly significant because it takes place on the same beach where, just weeks ago, another incident of extreme violence was recorded.
On August 1, Raúl Maturell Labrada, 19 years old, died after a violent incident at La Carpa, a recreational center located at El Tenis beach.
A 15-year-old teenager was arrested as a suspect, although the exact circumstances of that confrontation remain under investigation.
That case adds to other recent incidents involving weapons in the province of Matanzas.
In June, a 17-year-old girl died in Cárdenas after being stabbed during a fight with another minor.
The confrontation had begun hours earlier in a park and ended in front of the victim's home.
