A video that has spread widely on social media in recent days has led to unexpected consequences for Global Computers USA, a Miami-based company specializing in security systems, surveillance cameras, alarms, and access control.
The images depict a conflict between a homeowner and some landscaping workers over the alleged nonpayment for a service. However, a commercial vehicle identified with the logo of Global Computers USA is also parked at the location.
This coincidence led numerous social media users to link the company to the incident. As the company explained to CiberCuba, it is a mistaken association.
Why was the Global Computers USA vehicle there?
The company claims that one of its technicians was on the property performing work completely unrelated to the gardening service that sparked the dispute.
Global Computers USA assures that it did not hire the landscapers, did not participate in the alleged payment dispute, and has no employment or business relationship with the individuals involved in that conflict.
According to the version provided by the company, their vehicle appears in the images solely because one of their employees was providing another service on the same property at the time the incident took place.
The confusion spread from the video to Google and other platforms
The presence of the truck identified with the company was enough for some internet users to interpret that the man featured in the controversy was an owner, employee, or had some connection to Global Computers USA.
The confusion had consequences. The company claims that it started receiving negative reviews on Google, as well as calls with insults, threats, and messages on social media urging others not to use their services.
Captures provided to CiberCuba show negative reviews specifically related to the episode of the gardeners. Among them are comments such as "Pay the gardener!" and "Pay the grass guy!".
The company publicly responded to some of those opinions to explain that it was in the residence providing a service unrelated to the incident and that it had not hired the workers involved nor did it have any responsibility for their payment.
Global Computers USA also reported that the reviews resulting from this confusion were subsequently removed by Google. The images provided by the company also show actions taken on the platform to remove the feedback.
The company requests to avoid unverified associations
Global Computers USA believes that the incident illustrates how a circumstantial element within a viral video can end up impacting third parties who were not involved in the events.
The company states that it has been working for years to build its reputation and considers it particularly harmful that users who have never been customers post negative reviews based solely on the appearance of one of its vehicles in a video.
In its public Instagram profile, Global Computers USA presents itself as a company specialized in advanced security systems, CCTV, alarms, access control, and audio solutions for residential and commercial clients in Florida.
The company insists that its intention in making this clarification public is not to intervene in the dispute between the homeowner and the gardening workers, but to dissociate itself from a conflict in which it claims not to have participated.
“Our only presence in the location was as a technical service provider,” the company explained to CiberCuba.
Global Computers USA asks those who have seen the video not to assign blame to companies or individuals solely for appearing incidentally in the footage and to verify the facts before publishing accusations, reviews, or messages that could harm the reputation of others.
