A 14-year-old teenager recovered the iPhone he had lost during a trip in Cienfuegos, after the driver who found the device chose to return it while the family was going through a distressing situation related to the health of one of its members.
The case was reported this Thursday by the officialist profile Las Cosas de Fernanda, which presented the episode under the title "An Act of Honesty Worth Sharing," a statement that takes on special meaning in a country where the prolonged crisis has deepened distrust, precariousness, and the dehumanization of everyday life.
According to the report, a family was heading to the Hospital Pediátrico de Cienfuegos amidst worries about a sick child with hepatitis when Víctor Ferrer Soriano, a 14-year-old student from Frank País secondary school, realized that he had lost his phone during the journey.
The teenager had accidentally dropped the iPhone while traveling on a rented motorcycle.
In the face of the loss, the family immediately began calling the device while simultaneously dealing with the family emergency.
The driver responded and informed them that the phone was safe. According to the account, he explained that he needed to continue with another trip, so he would hand the device over to the person in charge of the taxi stand to ensure it returned to its owner.
When the family returned to the hospital, they found the driver with the manager, and the iPhone was returned to the teenager.
"The simple gesture, yet filled with humanity, returned calm to a child who was desperate and to a family already facing a difficult situation," the post stated.
The profile highlighted the honesty of the two men involved and requested assistance in identifying them, as it stated that it only had information about the teenager.
"We only have information about the child among the protagonists; if you know these honest men, let us know in the comments, and don't forget their names," she expressed.
In the comments section, several people identified the driver as Delmis López Muñoz, whom they described as an honest man, hardworking and with good values.
Diamary Montalvo González, who introduced herself as his wife for over 20 years, also confirmed his name and emphasized the education and principles that, according to her, have always defined him.
In the midst of the worsening Cuban crisis, gestures like this remind us that, even amidst so much hardship, solidarity, honesty, and humanity still endure.

The driver, identified as Edey Antúnez, had kept the luggage until he could contact its owner.
